Best of luck with your interview.
Good luck too to anyone else looking for work. Despite what some seem to think it is not easy.0 -

Really good luck.
Be yourself, be smart, be on time and be friendly!
I have no idea why you've come into so much stick on thie thread...just really hope that you are successful in your interview."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Good luck with the interview.
Most of the people who give you stick are morons so ignore them.0 -
Hi the interview is for the higher education funding council for wales.0

Not all bar work is in the evening, most are open during the day and if you think about it if you got a job in a bar during the day at lunch hour you'd have all the office staff coming in get to know them and find out about vacancies.
When I was younger I had lots of friends that worked in pubs and they all got jobs they wanted from meeeting a variety of people and getting to hear about other work and oppourtunities.
I also did a CV for a friend that had only ever worked in a pub but we spun her job to include she was used to handling money and quick mathematics, she was used to dealing with all sorts of people, she was assertive and able to keep calm in stressful situations, she gave her CV to one of the regualrs and got a job at the local council and after applying for other jobs within local councils now has an awesome job in Brighton a great little flat and because she's living down there she's now doing a uni course on Zoology and
is off to Africa to work for a charity that looks after orphaned Orangutans. If she hadn't worked in the pub and met people and spruced up her CV taking skills from every little job she'd done she wouldn't have had all this happen.
Please don't rant at me, just that while you say it's not your ambition to work in that environment then it could be a stepping stone to your ambition.

Now that sounds like the most constructive suggestion I've read to date on this thread. The O.P. isnt objecting to bar work per se - but just to having to work evenings - I sympathise - as I wouldnt either personally. But this is a bit of thinking "outside the box" and could be a possible starting point - after all "its not what you know, but who you know" as they say and thats one way to meet plenty of people - at a time when they arent boozed out of their head and/or looking to see who they can "hook up with" for the night.0 -
what a luaghable thread. By focusiung on one thing the OP said (not wanting to work unsociable hours) everything else he has said and agreed with has been totally disregarded.
the OP never said he wasn't willing to work, he just said that he wants to have a life, which should come before any consideration of work. If society/state/government/jobcentre can't accommodate that then something somewhere is seriously wrong.0 -

Thanks for the feedback - was worried I'd get shouted down!
