Good luck with the job hunt, I know how hard it is!

I've been out of work since start of April and still to date the jobcentre has not processed any claim for benefit, so now I've gave up trying to get any sense from them.

Luckily my sister works for a major recruitment agency, and I got an interview for a telecoms company last week and found out I'd got the job on Friday. In a town I've never been to in my life and half an hour by train at a cost of £7 per day. I need to take anything I can get though if I want my weekly trips away and lifestyle I'm used to.

My sister has one one job on her books in her office, and even they are cutting off recruitment now. I sat in her office helping out today and theres a constant stream of people coming in and she just has to say theres no work every time. We used to do loads of factory/labouring jobs up here but theres literally nothing. I searched the reed website and most jobs have around 100 people applying for each position.

I just thank myself lucky that even though it's not a dream job, it's a job and means I can have my life back cos these past three weeks have been a nightmare!

if someone told you to put your hand in a fire would you do it?

Tyrone a fire would have negative consequences whereas a bar job would be bringing cash in but that said I can understand. If I was out of work I would battle to take on a bar job as I dont drink and I hate the effects that alchohol has on people - rather let me work with a bunch of stoned people than a bunch of p!ssheads........ :rotfl:

Maybe you will hear tuesday as we have the bank holiday.

I hope you hear one way or another. My son went for several interviews (one at a major toy shop chain) and they didn't have the decency to tell him whether he'd got the job or not. He rang several times but just got fobbed off. I really think that if someone has bothered to turn up for an interview at least they should get feedback even if it's only no you didn't get the job.
I hope you are lucky though.

Dont know which area you live in but try Scottish and southern Energy, they are always looking for well qualified staff, especially in the IT side of things, and they are a good company to work for.!!!! good working conditions and you are generally well looked after
