Morning everyone!
Well, this is the time I normally wake up in the middle of the night, however I haven't managed to get to sleep yet. It got a bit boring just lying there, so here I am starting today's thread. I'll hop back into bed in a moment.
I had some car problems yesterday - silly thing overheated. Unfortunately I was on the mountain road in the Mourne Mountains, had no water and had no phone and was stranded with the bonnet up for about two hours hoping for an angel to decend (or some other miracle) as the car was bone dry of water. In the end a couple who were out for a walk came by - I kind of assumed they would help...the guy got some water from a nearby stream he knew and filled my car. It seems OK now - I dumped some anti-freeze into it last night then drove around for a while to get it through the system (this is possibly Irish logic!?). HonestJohn.co.uk participants suggested that I drain the system, loosen this nut and pull that tube...it wasn't going to happen in the dark and with no tools, so I hope my remedy was sufficient as there is quite a frost. Whatever happens I think I am going to have to flash some cash at a car mechanic.
Think I am going to have to go and try to blow out some Zzzzzzzs, am so tired, but my mind is in a whirl.
B = porridge, have had it already!
B2 = more porridge (fat horse that i am...)
L = who knows, probably a shop bought sandwich as all organisation flew out the window after my car troubles
D = more who knows, if I have my car I'll pop back home and have pasta and something or other. If I don't have my car then...shop bought sandwich!
I really do hope I have my car as it's a college night, and I don't fancy walking the three miles home at 9.30 pm.
Right I'm off.
Elona, hope your DD is OK, sounded yesterday like she's over the worst already, though it's still a major op that she had so it'll take a while to mend.
Hope everyone else is well and happy.
Bye

Morning
Not a bad night here.
DW emptied. WM on and will be hung outside to dry. Toilet cleaned. House pretty much tidy from friday. Have SIL coming today to some further jobs and me ironing.
Have to go to Kings Hospital up London this afternoon, so will pick DD up then go straight up there. Dont think he's going to be happy as he wanted me to gain weight and have lost about another stone since November....but I am scoffing my facewill be forced to have more blood tests which I hate but are needed......oh well never mind!
Watched Pride and Prejudice yesterday and was excellent, we all enjoyed it very much. BIL turned up last night and took 3 hrs to ged rid of him, then we were all in bed by ten.
Have tons of stuff to do today, make calls, balance accounts, write a letter, wrap about 6 parcels up for ebay, pay cheques in the bank etc etc.

Morning all
Welcome to new peeps, hugs to peeps in need and sympathy to peeps with problems! Hopefully that covers everything that happened yesterday while I was busy being hostess.
The parental visits went off with only a few small hitches, such as whilst chatting with my Mum whilst preparing the recipe for the SC - I suddenly realised that (after cleaning like a demon the day before) a mouse with a bad sense of humour had been on the table and left several poos behind the SC. EWWW EWWW EWWW!! I'd wondered what she was looking at, back there. Its a constant battle with mice, here. Being a terrace, they're constantly backwards and forwards. Sometimes you don't see any for weeks, then like buses, loads come along at once.
Oh yes, and such as when my 7yo DS was tellling my Mum about an X-box game he plays where a Zombie does a "Toxic Fart". *sigh* Son, you just don't use the word "fart" in front of Nanna.
Other than that, I think everything went off swimmingly. It didn't rain, so the dogs tracked a minimal amount of mud indoors - and my Mum turned up with a red cross parcel of food for us! Kiwi fruit, fruit juice, a huge pack of M&S frozen chicken breasts, mange tout and dwarf beans! She also came bearing inedible gifts of clothes for DS, a new winter coat for DS, chocolate bubble bath :T plus tangerine bubble bath - with a capful of each, we could have a chocolate orange bubble bath! Hmmn, what else? Oh yes, body lotions for me, a collection of free CDs and DVDs from their newspapers, a coat for me (which might fit at some point) which came free from a catalogue and a huge stack of magazines!! It was a bit like Christmas.
The quiches and rosemary & oat bread for lunch were well received - as was the smell of baking bread as soon as they walked in the door! The Paprika Pork at dinner must have been good, as everybody cleared their plates. The mince & apple filo parcels (using yellow sticker filo) were delish with a bit of icecream and the mixed berry coulis that DH produced was so fresh and tangy, its a wonder everybody's hair didn't  :rotfl:
I think they may have got a bit fed up with hearing the phrase "the folks on MSE", as whatever I talked about seemed to link up with here!My Dad is greatly into managing his money and has been receiving Martin's email newsletter for a while, so they were very interested in everything we're doing. I think I may have sold them on the idea of the microfibre cloths, too.
So, today I am going to sit back and enjoy a clean house .. well, once I've tackled the washing up!! Hope you all have a great day.
B : Speckly bread toast & honey.
L : something involving eggs.
D : sausage and whatever needs eating up.:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:Weight loss since 2 March 10 : 13lbs0 -
Morning all
I have a day off work today, I booked Friday & Monday, partly to use up some holiday before the end of the month & partly because it was our wedding anniversary & we were going to go out. I've had a stinking cold so we didn't do anything in the end. Never mind, there's always next year.
I've had a good weekend despite the cold. I had to go to the hospital on Friday morning to get a medical report for an insurance claim I'm making. These things take ages so I was glad to make some progress.
I had a really excellent OS day on Saturday. I started by putting 2kg of reduced chicken into the SC to get a big batch of casserole going. That was delicious for dinner & I've frozen loads more. I went to the Co Op just in time to pick up another load of reduced fish & meat so my freezer is full again. Later I made bread & a batch of washing powder. I felt quite smug!
We took my parents out for lunch yesterday as a treat for mum's birthday & a good time was had by all, although my diet took a bit of a battering, no normal person can resist ice cream sundae can they?
Today I will be mainly getting a load of cleaning done to give me a head start before I'm back to work tomorrow.
Have a brilliant Monday everyone - the forecast says this is the last bright sunny day so lets enjoy the sunshine whilst we can. Well it's sunny here anyway.0 -

Penny Pincher. good luck at the hospital; if you need an extra stone or 2 I have a couple spare I'd be happy to have you take of my hands (OK, hips:rolleyes: )
Elona, hugs to you and your little'un. Hope recovery is speedy.
Poshpaws, glad the visit went well. Hope you get a chance to relax today, you've earned it. The toxic fart story had me in fits :rotfl:
Hiya gettingitsorted, Dobie, Smokey, FunkyFairy and GIRLPOWER (hope today is better hun).
Right, I'm off to see it there is something I can do with last night's bread disaster. It didn't rise and I now have a sort of huge seed biscuit thing that I really cannot bring myself to waste. It was supposed to be a 50/50 Spelt & wholewheat loaf with sunflower, sesame and poppy seeds. Nomally it is a lovely loaf but I experimented with the yeast last night. That one goes into the failure book along with the diet coke loo cleaner  .My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead
