Nimbo - after reading your post i`m so glad that i opted to have the tooth out, this dentist isn`t exactly the gentlest of creatures, i did wonder if my neck was going to snap with all the yanking to get the tooth out.

I am seriously considering inviting myself to Catman's place for dinner.:D Particularly as we are scheduled to make do with egg'n'chips tonight.

Thanks for the good wishes for the Quiz - I have another two days to get myself into a lather - the big day is 8 pm Sunday night - and not only am I having blue kittens, I've started on the purple puppies as well! I'm such a wuss when it comes to letting people be aware that I'm there, let alone stand up and accept the proceeds for my chosen charity!:o

I forgot to mention earlier, the carrot & orange cake I made yesterday went down brilliantly; I've been told I have to make another one soon!:p

Been making candles this afternoon, so I have backache now - think I shall take it easy for a bit til Mr LW gets in.

Thanks for the welcome home people! Managed a very un-energetic workout today, but knew I had to get back to it asap! Have unpacked properly now, and cases are stored up in the loft again. While up there I found a very old Christmas tree, dating back to when artificial ones really looked very artificial - so that is now outside waiting to go to the tip!
Have room ready for sister's visit, and have been to purchase vast amounts of blackout fabric ready to make loose linings for all our upstairs curtains...that'll be a nice project for next week!
Curry tonight, using MIL's original recipe - very unhealthy with loads of butter in the sauce - but tastes fantastic!
TiredMum - you rant away - I might have done murder in your place!

Hi, I've been off for a while with holidays, computer problems and general chaos. I'm not having a good week, my ceramic hob has had something dropped on it and now has a large crack in it. I've been looking for a new one - but we need one with an oven door that is top opening and they are no longer made, so I have to either have a smaller oven or do some moving of appliances.

I've just looked at DS1 shoes and they are falling apart, despite only being a couple of months old, Clarks don't have any in his size and if I want a voucher they need to keep the shoes - which is a problem as he only has one pair of shoes!

Hope everybody else is having a better time!

Looby_Lou - How frustrating about the shoes! What on earth do the shop expect you to do until they get some more stock? My DGs (2yo) has just been bought his first pair of Clarks - always had Ricosta up til now - so I shall be interested to see if they last until he's grown out of them!

I remember there being a shortage of Clarks shoes (in our town anyway) about 25 years ago - I think the factory was on strike or something, and some children ended up going to school in plimsolls or wellies because there were no wide-fitting shoes in the local shops.

Peyton I forgot to thank you for the pot roast advice! Many thanks!

beemuzed -welcome back, we missed you

LW - Don't worry, just give your biggest smile and say "Thanks you very much indeed, everybody!"At least you have a couple of days to practise!

catman-without wings - Celeriac apparently needs to be peeled thickly, and the base cut off, then cut the rest into chunks and roast, or boil then mash with spuds.

Well, when DH got up he decided he didn't need to go to the Urgent Care centre as he says his chest doesn't hurt and he feels ok, just has a lot of catarrh, so we'll leave it at that for now:rolleyes: I think he'd have been happy to go round the corner to our Surgery just to stop me fretting, but couldn't be bothered with the hassle of going to the hospital.

We popped in to see DD2 and DGS this morning - didn't see DGD, she was asleep, but her brother was making enough noise for two anyway :D - DD said he's always at full volume after 2 days at Nursery, as the kids all shout over each other.

OS-wise I've cleaned the bathroom floor at least! And done 3 loads of washing.

Hope everyone has a good evening.
  • Pie done, well fish and sauce is done; potatoes almost ready to mash. Have grated some extra cheese to go on the top and am going to use a few of our home made breadcrumbs(or rather oh heck that's stale what can I use it for? crumbs)
Still no word as to when the boss is back. I am glad she decided to take this opportunity it really is something special. She has given up a lot for me and the family(mostly me and my side of the family if I am being totally honest)and it is lovely to see her so engaged and happy. Course it might be getting away from me for a bit:rotfl: Seriously she is lovely and I am very lucky(and happy)
Mnay thanks for the celeriac ideas. I am going to try all three given its size:rotfl: Will report.
Have a lovely evening and enjoy what you do. I also want to send best wishes to everyone on here. Particularly our friends with illness/worries /family troubles.
Anyway, off to make sure everything is perfect for the arrival:j

    Hello peeps
(((hugs))) to those having a hard time with family just now.

Doggie's leg is much better today - I'm so relieved. She is in a bit of a huff right now as DH has gone out for a run with our younger dog and she's been left behind. Whew though. Thanks so much for your good wishes for her.

WS - I have missed that you are poorly - flu bug? Shows how wrapped up in self I've been lately. Look after yourself with OS comfort - blankie, books, cups of tea.

OS here - plans for tomorrow include buying some plants for the pots and getting them planted. The garden is beginning to look nice - grass all cut and the yellow bush all in flower. Some of you will know its name. It's not broom but not sure what it is. Lovely though:D. The flowering red currant is all flowery as well.

Will also make up bed for DS coming next week:T. Have oldest DSS + his girlfriend (they don't *do* apart)tomorrow so will have to have a think of something for tea. DH and I have been on soup, salads and jogging in a fierce attempt to get fit:cool:. However, I feel a pasta meal coming on tomorrow.

Ok folks, hope your evening is a good one.

    Afternoon/Evening

Well....I had a lovely day visiting my friends daughter in her HUGE house in the country, then went to see how my OH and hers were getting on fitting the kitchen in the bungalow.
Best of all went shopping along the high street in Henley-in-Arden, went into the Hospice Charity shop, and bought a Suede/Furry type jacket thing with no sleeves for £5, (been looking for one for ages) and got some books for £1 each for Mum, then went to Sommerfield and got a bottle of Kumala Chardonnay £5.89 for 1/2 price £2.95 :T :T friend and I bought one each so thats our drinks sorted for the next 2 Tuesdays ;) :rotfl:

Bit late but we went into the White Swan for lunch and had steak and ale pie, and because they were the last 2 left he said we could have them 2 for £10, half a lager shandy and what a smashing day
Just what was needed with this croaky throat and sore nose.

not much osing done here today, did some H/work before I went out though, but I have had a few bargains do those count I wonder :D

Hello Everyone, hope you are all well. Sooo glad its the weekend, although this week has gone really quick I think.

Took dogs out for a good run and swim after work today, just made a chicken and onion plait for tea with jackets and veg hopefully it will be yummy.

OH has his first job interview tomorrow since losing his previous job a few months back so fingers crossed, hoping things turn for the better as starting to struggle now :(

Found out today that don't have to start paying our Council Tax until May so that is a relief can put the money against other bills e.g. Elec/Gas!!!

Going to give the house a bit of a spring clean tomorrow morning I think and hopefully wash the duvet if nice. Will also go to the market and get plenty of fruit and veg for the week. My mum recommended a Sweet and Sour Chicken with Pineapple which can be made in the SC so might try that tomorrow, apparently its supposed to be yummy.

Anyway have a good evening all - I better go check on tea.
