........A bit annoyed this morning, DH has had a bad cough for over a month and despite having a course of antibiotics for a chest infection is still coughing and it still sounds just the same, so I tried to get an appointment for him to have his chest listened to again, but couldn't even get put through to the surgery - the automated system just said "We apologise. The Surgery is experiencing high call volumes" (of course it is, that's because everyone has to try to get through at 8.00 to have any hope of an appointment!) "Please ring again at a less busy time." And a fat lot of good that would be:mad:

I'll see if he fancies going to the Urgent Care Centre at the hospital and sitting around for hours  ......

Ivyleaf, do you have an NHS Walk-In centre near you? They may be able to help & could be quicker....

    I've been Money Tipped!
Ivyleaf - is there a local drop in GP centre. There is a few in some towns. I hope your dear heart feels better soon. There are some nasty bugs around.

To everyone - as far as I am concerned Maya is welcome to post on this thread whenever she likes

I'm going to try and stop coughing (not bad, just hugely infected with self pity) long enough to get little bear and I to Matalan to see if there really are the bargains promised. Not that I should be spending the money... I may look out and see if there is winter stuff that will do little bear next winter, and of course there are potential Christmas and birthday presents...

At least that will help burn off some of little bear's energy. Not that he approved of all this weather yesterday :D

A friend of dear heart's is moving into his own flat. Any suggestions that a gentleman may miss setting up his flat? I have already sent washing up liquid and a sponge. I'm not sending cakes until I can cut down the germ frosting. He says he has most of the obvious kitchen stuff, though I sent some tea towels.

I shall also send him links to MSE, approved food, mysupermarket etc. ;)

If 3-4 Social Workers could speak their report to either a dictphone or person, and then move on to the next tasks, they could get far more done? and one lower paid "typist" could get on with what she was good at far faster, producing something to be checked and signed off in minutes. Rant over.

Donny I used to work for Older People's Services at our local council and often had to type reports from social workers and summaries of meetings including interviews with clients families etc - from handwritten notes. Most of the younger staff typed their own but some older ones were very pc phobic - in fact I was shocked that in this day and age not only were the PCs and PC operating systems very archaic but most people did not even know the extreme basics. I was the office computer whizzkid by virtue of the fact that I could operate a PC!!!!Windows 98 the very first system I used was so old, basic and familiar to me that I used to help/tutor the other staff. This was a chore at times tho as my pc skills and knowledge were so advanced I had trouble thinking back over 10 years as to the ins and outs of the OS.:rotfl:

Washing machine has been on and need to drag myself out to hang up the washing.

Spicy fruit loaf is in the breadmaker and chicken in the slow cooker for me to make a chicken lasagne later.

Nose is running and throat feels sandpapered so going to be lazy and take myself off to bed with a tray of tea and hot lemon for a couple of hours.

    Tired Mum

I'd be inclined to put a lock on your door and make them pay in some way for the damage.

Maybe borrow some of "their" favourite stuff and hide it for a few hours just to let them see how upsetting it is for things to be broken and not treated with respect.

I've been known to burst into tears wailing "Why is it only "my" stuff that gets broken and moved?"

Hugs to everyone- going to lie down now as head is fuzzy and mis spelling stuff.

Morning! Well another quiet one at work for me today, but its my last day before I'm off for a whole week :j . Not doing anything exciting, but finally getting the house in order, sorting out piles of paperwork, trying out my slow cooker for the first time...

Ooh and on Thursday I'm off to try on wedding dresses with my mum :j

N9eav - enjoy your Rock and Roll party tonight!
Tiredmum - sounds like you're having a rough time at the moment, make sure you get some me time, shut the so-and-sos out of the bathroom and run yourself a long bath with candles :D

Sunnyday - I'm sorry to hear about your tooth, I hate dentists, I hope it feels better soon.

Ladymay - yay for the new love interest!

And to all those who need a hug here's a big one - :grouphug:

Thanks Floss and wannabe sybil - we don't have an NHS walk-in centre near us, but the Urgent Care Centre at the hospital is for minor injuries and also for people who couldnt get an appointment with their own GP but need to be seen by a doctor. I've never been there before, but it's separate from A & E so there should be less waiting around. I'll see what DH says when he comes downstairs.
