  • Hi, I know this is really cheeky but we were actually away on a Sun 9.50 holiday last week (Pontins Brean sands - very clean but activities have height restrictions so had to go off site with toddler) and we missed the first weeks codes. If anyone has collected from day 1 could they please just post the words on here as most days the shops ran out of the sun before we got out of bed (late night cabaret was good). I've got them from the 10th.
    Thanks:T

  • Just back from Park Dean in Trecco Bay. We booked on the last sun holiday vouchers. We had to pay £9.50 for 4 people, although it was only myself, my partner and our baby going. Then paid £5.50 x 2 for club passes and another £20 to guarantee a pet free/smoke free caravan.
The park is fine, if that is your sort of thing. Much like Butlins. If I was a young child I would think it's amazing. Because it's the school holidays it was packed and a bit noisy at night. We ended up leaving after one night as our little one because our little one is poorly, so didn't see all the sights.
All the staff were friendly and helpful in the way you expect from holidays in Wales (well, I do - I always love going to Wales!).
  • Park Dean Newquay (well, close to it) is nice. I've been to 2 other Park Dean sites - Pendine Sands and Trecco bay. I know it's silly, but I went to Haven once and hated it.
I went full price to Newquay, not on the sun holiday vouchers. The park isn't close to much of anything really. The walk to the beach is a bit much as you have to walk over some steap and slippery dunes. My mother was with us and the walk was too much for her. I was heavilly pregnant and struggled also.
The restaurant and entertainment wasn't amazing, but okay. The caravan was clean, just incredibly uncomfortable beds. I ended up sleeping on top of a duvet with another over me. But I was pregnant, so I may not be the best judge on this.
Everything was a long drive away, and not many restaurants nearby. But I, again, am not the best judge as I really don't care for holidays in Cornwall. So take my opinion with a grain of salt. I'd much rather go to Pendine Sands again!
Ah - and the staff were a bit eh. Not unfriendly but well... indifferent I suppose. But there was a family of rabbits outside our caravan that I was very amused by! I fed them carrots for hours while my Mother kept telling my partner to leave me alone, I was pregnant and if I wanted to feed rabbits I was going to feed rabbits.

We went to Trecco Bay the first week of the hols. Its not my "thing" exactly but there is something for everyone there, its also clean and tidy and has a lovely beach with hardly anyone on it. I wont bother with passes for the Showdome in future as it was too loud and no seats available. The Sportsman bar next door was fine, the kids kept coming and going to the amusements. A bit strange that the amusements close at 10pm as we havent found that elsewhere but it wasnt a problem.

    For anybody interested -

Park #134 Warmwell in Dorset. Lovely park, inland but driveable from Weymouth. Quiet location not much within walking distance. Good indoor pool. Dry ski-slope; good indoor entertainment (climbing frames etc) for kids. Park run kids clubs. Restaurant (fairly pricey) - take aways - evening entertainment reasonable in bar/theatre area if you like that sort of thing. Not a site for the car-less. My kids desperately want to go back here. We had a lodge here - not a caravan. Few statics onsite.

Park # 124 at Benodet southern Brittany (Pointe St Gilles) is a fabulous park. Lovely location - walking distance to town and good beaches. It has lovely scenery. Reasonable drive 1.5 - 2 hrs from Roscoff - Loooong drive from Eurotunnel.
Open air - and importantly a heated indoor/coverable pool. A must in Brittany as the weather is reasonable but not amazing. Getting here may be problematic without a car - but fine to manage without a car whilest there as much in walking distance.

Park # 218 La Garangeoire - inland northern Vendee coast - about 20kms or so from coast. This is one of the best parks in the Vendee region. Heavily booked up in advance by rebookers - who tend to book before they leave the site the last time. If you can get on here - go for it. Huge park area, lodgings well set out. Pool could be a bit small. Read views on Tripadvisor or similar. Much more expensive park to book direct - get it on the Sun-deal and you have a fabulous bargain. Not a site for the car-less.

Park# 308 Duinrell. Imho this is the best of the lot. Just got back from trip in April. This is a good park, but what makes it so impressive is that it has the largest indoor waterpark in Europe within the campsite. (3.50 Euros per visit) - but it also has a themepark attached which is free to all customers. Not massive - but your kids will love it. Couple of miles from massive beach, lovely town of Wassenaar, close to Leiden and easy day out to Amsterdam. Another park which is hugely popular with rebookers. Again if you can get it on a Sundeal you will be doing well. Horizontal rain Easter weekend and the kids loved it - that is saying something for a campsite in Northern Europe. Parents liked it in the rain as the kids were happy - but really loved it in the sun. Tshirts, shorts and barbies Easter Tuesday. Wasnt bad. approx 3.45 drive from Calais. Less from Hook of Holland. Easy site to be carless. Getting there may be a challenge (55 Euros one way from Schipol by taxi) - Duinrell have cheaper rates so check with them. Or train also possible from Schipol. But then need taxi from Leiden. Once there easy to be car-free - use a bike :D. Good supermarket walking distance. If you are opting for a Sun-deal 4 day break - this is def the one to go for. (Other than Le Chene Gris if you are looking for Eurodisney access)

Can give views on quite a few other sites shown on the sunlist - but these are my picks of the bunch !

Sorry to be thick, but I've not booked one of these Sun holidays and I'm a bit confused.

How many tokens do you have to collect? I've downloaded the booking form from the Sun website and it says 7 in one section and then 10 in another. Then I read the MSE weekly newsletter which says

"To book your holiday, you need to collect seven unique tokens, printed in The Sun (20p) and News of the World (£1) every day until 1 May 2010. The last day you can start collecting is Saturday 24 April to get the 10 required tokens"

So, how many do I have to collect?

Also, It says that you have to attach the tokens to your booking form, but then people are asking for the names on the tokens? Why?
    Cheers

  • Looking to go on my first SUN holiday. My husband can only get a week off work on a specific date. Do I have to specify 5 dates, or can I just say 1 and hope for the best?
