Hi going to Butlins Skegness this July 2015 , has anybody been recently and do you need to buy the entertainment passes to go swimming or use the funfair / entertainment as we are thinking of cancelling the passes as they are quite expensive ???? can anybody advise please0

Having been there several times on non-Sun holidays, the way the complex works I would suggest that you will need entertainment passes to use the majority of the facilities on the site.0

My wife booked our sun holiday in March. I looked up the price to book with Haven directly afterwards, and the price was just under £40 cheaper. The Suns T&C state, if found the same holiday elsewhere, Cheaper, they will refund the difference, plus £10. After emailing several times with no response, I finally for through on the phone to the sun. Apparently as I took up there offer on the upgrade to delux caravan for the additional £8 per night, I think it was. That's voids the price match. It's always worth going directly and checking the prices first with the holiday home. Of which clearly we didn't do, haha.
Not happy with the sun, out of principle, won't be using there holiday promotion again.0 -

I have been to Butlins several times not on Sun deal and no one has an entertainment pass but you had to show your Door key for swimming and the big show lounge.
It is unlikely you will need to show a pass for the fairground or for the central stage with Bob the Builder etc. I have booked Butlins on the Sun holiday this time and I actually asked them this question and the answer was that if you want to use any of the entertainment including the fair and the central stage then you should purchase an entertainment pass.
They also told me that this year they will be using different coloured keys for sun holidays so showing you room key will not be evidence of having an entertainment pass and that they will be checking more regularly this year as they feel that the system has been abused in the past and this is not fair on either them and a Business or other customers that have paid for these passes or for entertainment passes.
I made the question not because I wanted to try and get something for nothing but because I did not think it clear what the passes wee for if you only needed the passes for the swimming pool and big show lounge I would have skipped it but as you are kent to have it for the central stage and fairground I will buy it. We are paying about £110 for three of us for a weekend including the passes the price for this on their website is £300 plus so it's still good value.
Yes the entertainment passes are expensive but they are great value there is stuff for kids to do included from when they get up until they go to bed if we did not want this or did not want to pay for it then we would have booked a park dean or haven holiday but we will use this entertainment so should pay for it.
So in short you can probably get away with using the fair and central stage but if you do get checked it will be terribly embarrassing and you may get sent off site and if you want to use The site for anything other than accommodation only you should get the passes.
Hope this helpsIts Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time0 -

Just give the park a quick ring stating what you're unsure about (as I'm sure they would know if they take part in the Sun holiday deal each year) and hopefully they would be able to tell you.Every act of kindness, no matter how small, isn’t wasted ❤️

Just booked a Sun holiday that in fact cost me more than if i had gone through directly with Haven. e mailed Sun holidays to enquire regarding the 'so called price promise' apparently the price promise does not exist if you make any changes such as book more than 4 people, add bed linen, upgrade to better accommodation. This is in the terms and conditions at the bottom of the page. (look carefully) Before you book with this company read it. Other wise you will be conned just like me. Not happy:(:(:(
Any info ??0 -
