    hi
Has anyone had any experience of claiming back charges from MBNA credit card?

For reasons i wont go into I have had quite a while of not paying them, original debt about £100 , three years on its £223 and I have paid back probably about £100 over the years, so they have probably charged me about £300 over 3 years.
I rang them today to ask niceley for money back and was told charges were not unlawful so am sending off my 1st letter today re statements for the last 3 years.

Has anyone claimed successfully from them and do I have a case?

    any advice welcome

If you click on my sig and have a look there, you can see for yourself, I don't have the figures in my head right now, but there's no reason why they should be any different from the others.

Yes, you can reclaim your charges. See you there. :-)

To everyone who has PM'ed me regarding bank charges:

Sorry for not replying, I've had a bit of a disaster at home and we've had to evacuate to a place without a phone line, let alone an Internet connection.

I'm not being rude, just in an impossible position at the moment.
  • Well my first 14 days is up so letter number two will be in the post first thing in the morning - much success from HSBC anyone?

I am hoping to send my letter this week to HSBC, I just always seem to forget to do it!! Keep my updated if you get any success with HSBC :)

  • Hmmm has something recently changed on CAG website? at the bottom of the Preliminary approach for repaymnet letter it now says not to forget your schedule - I didn't do this with the first letter.

I take it the schedule in question is based on that spreadsheet but WITHOUT the interest?

Also is it really worth NOT putting in the paragraph notifying OFT with the second letter?
  • Hi, I'm beaming at this moment in time and hopefully will be running around so happy in a few months.
I am with Natwest and have been charged around 900.00 since Dec 05. Serious financial probs due to my hubby having an accident.
Anyway I was charged 76.00 last week for 2 unpaid d/d's even though i had deposited a chq for 2000.00 which was due to clear the day after. i rung them and was told under no circumstances would i be getting a refund. So i threatened legal action. I looked into my account just now and they have refunded the 76.00. Wow. Looks like you can win at this if you are clever and now I am going to proceed with the last 6 years worth of charges, problably totalling thousands.
    I'll keep you all posted.

    Dear All,

Am getting geared up to make a claim on six years worth of Natwest charges, but i do not know if I can claim, now that I am not a customer? I have scanned the forum and the article by the consumer action group and so far can't seem to find anyone ,mentioning this.

The reason for change? Indeed the charges they were applying to me and some sound advice from this site to stop being loyal to my bank - i was an original Nat West Piggy account holder but now a proud owner of a 0% overdraft with another bank.

Is there also a limit to how mahy banks you can claim back at one time?

    thanks
    Claire
