Ah freedom of choice, yes, but this is Martin's website
Martin's articles are the mainstay of MoneySavingExpert and are presented by him in an unbiased, journalistic fashion.
Users come onto MSE from receiving the email tips, currently 700,000, and also from having seen Martin on various programmes on TV, reading his book and listening to his monthly slot on Jeremy Vine on BBC Radio2.
I personally don't have a monopoly of this site but I will always recommend Martin's articles to users as that is why they have come onto MSE. I will also continue to promote the CAG forums as they are sponsored by Martin as he also does with saynoto0870.0 -
Quick update, through the post today we got a cheque for £950 (plus pennies) from Alliance and leicester. Court papers were served on1/10/06 and they have paid up in full, Hurray!!!0

Lobster..... I know it is daunting, but claim back your charges. I've claimed back from Halifax, and it really is worth it. Slightly hard at first to follow the routine, but consumer action group forums are brilliant. If you explain your position you will get masses of help. Good luck0

Hi gtonge,
"I have enclosed the shecdule from the basic excel spreadsheet which details the offence, amount, date incurred, days since offence and interest 8%APR - its this bit that confuses me as I have entered into the letter this figure as the figure for overdraft interest charged - is this correct as I am now thinking its not and have totally messed things up and am not likely to receive any sort of refund! any advice please????"
Has this letter already gone off? The interest charges should not be added until it goes to court, until then you are just asking for the charges back. If they don't give them back, then you hit them with the interest with a court claim.
If it has already gone off, I would just let it run. You will seem like you don't know what you're doing if you now write in saying 'oh sorry, ignore that'!Then they will exploit that weakness.
So my impartial and personal advice is to sit pretty and see what happens. If you don't get a response in the 14 days allocated, move to the next stage.
Rememeber that when you do submit a claim, the interest charges will be higher a it will be sometime in the future, and that you make sure you enter the 'I am claiming interest' text as given on the consumeractiongroup website. The whole template for the claim particulars is there too.
Good luck!Littlewoods catalogue - won back charges of £300 by default.

Thankyou 165721! Nice to read a response on this website without it being a sarcastic one or a dig at people!
I thought I might have done it wrong! - the letter has gone off - the excel sheet was included - how would I have known how much they had charged me in interest? the letter says "you have charged me xxxx and interest in xxx" I know... I am a bit hopeless on this but thank everyone for their patience and time0 -

The interest bit it that is interest that THEY have charged YOU for being overdrawn, i.e. their unauthorised overdraft interest rate charges on the amount you are overdrawn by. You would get that by looking at your statements, if it wasnt shown you could theoretically work it out.
Anyway we are where we are, so as I said just run with it. When did it go off? Drop me a line when it comes to the moneyclaim bit if you want any help to make sure its right. I'm no expert but I have just got my head around it pretty quickly! I'm going after HSBC next!Littlewoods catalogue - won back charges of £300 by default.

Indeed everyone help everyone else. I would be very pleased to be shown directly to the places I need to be, but everyone has their own way of doing things, and everyone will continue to do things their own way. Now lets all get on and be happy :beer:Littlewoods catalogue - won back charges of £300 by default.
