when exactly will the account gointo dispute?
will it be after the bank act on the DPA letter or when they receve the clam letter?

hi, if you sent the dpa template from www.!!!!!!.uk then it will be in dispute as soon as they recieve payment for it. as for other dpa templates i am not sure how they are worded.
  • Hi

I'm looking at some charges made against a friends account but he has something I have not seen before. In the terms of his overdraft there is an excess charge (i think thats the wording)of £4 per day he exceeds the limit. Can these charges be reclaimed or not?

    Cheers in advance.
And if, you know, your history...

hi, they are for unauthorised overdraft so if your friends charges add up to at least the excess overdraft then yes as he wouldnt be in that position without them.
    take a look at www.!!!!!!.uk
  • quick question? i too have had bank charges for regarding late direct debits/standing orders i have been charged £30 by Barclays for each late entry however in reflection it has been over 1 year now that i moved house and even though i have contacted barclays on numerous occasions regarding change of address-they are still sending my statements to my old address-surely there has to be a way i can claim back "charges"-it would only seem fair to charge £30 per statement for the last 1 year? NO??
Please advise on what action i should take? I think i have a strong case just not clued up on the whole procedure...
  • I do apologise if this has been covered already but a brief search did not turn anything up.

I am with the Bank of Scotland and intend writing to them to claim back my charges. Where precisely should I address my correspondence to? The Head Office?

    thanks

i presume you have wrote to them regarding the change of address and they have ignored you, so you need to send them a letter under the dpa for both change of address and statements, there is maximum charge of £10 for this and you will find the letter at www.!!!!!!.uk

Register with the CAG (https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum) and there is a list of all the addresses for each institution.

Technically, you SHOULDN'T send it to your branch.
  • A little success story here ... I've had correspondence with Nationwide regarding unfair charges for the best part of a year (that should be "worst part of a year"). Still felt a little daunted about going via the courts, so I contacted the Financial Ombudsman. Upshot is that through the Ombudsman I've just agreed a full settlement of £380.50. Whoopee!!
