Hi, just a quick question. Am in the process of claiming against Halifax, have recieved a letter from court saying they are going to defend the claim. Has anyone else claimed from halifax? Does this mean I wait to get a date for going to court?

They tend to say that quite a lot. Strange that they have never followed through with a court appearance!

Approximately 1 week to 10 days from now, you should have a payment into your account. Check it carefully - they have been conveniently forgetting to pay the daily rate of interest on court claims (presuming you asked for it). It might not be much, but it's yours.

    Hi

Can someone please give me some advice on this.

Until about 2yrs ago I had 2 current accounts, loan and credit card with Barclays bank. I then went into default and started using a debt management company to pay Barclays back the loan, credit card and over draft. I am still currently paying that.

I would like to request a copy of all my charges for the last 6 yrs.

    a) do I have to write individually or will it be enough to direct it to Barclays and state my details and individual accounts?

    b) will it affect my arrangement for paying the debts off ie: can they ask me to pay everything back immediately as this is currently reviewed every 6 months.
    Thanks!
  • Hey all, ive only just heard about all this so please bear with me. Im 21yrs old so i dont really have a clue about whats going to happen. Im in the process of writing a letter to my bank (HSBC) to try and claim back what ive been charged over the past 2yrs, roughly £1000. Right now im currently up and over my limit on my overdraft and credit card. What im worried about is, what if i try to claim back my money, they say no and close my account and demand i pay back all the money i have borrowed....around £5000. My credit rating must be pathetic by now so im just worried another bank will not allow me to bank with them. If this all goes wrong then i will be in it up to my neck. I know what your thinking....why bother trying to claim, but i am so far over my overdraft that i am constantly being charged every month £125 in charges. As i am on income support theres no way i can keep my overdraft under what it should when i keep having to pay these charges. Any advice is welcome.
  • Does anyone know if it is possible to challenge the fee charged for repaying a mortgage.
We paid the Halifax for 17 years and on older leaflets the repayment fee was waived for mortgages over 10 years old. But they no longer want to do that and despite two letters from me they insist that we must pay £175 for paying off the Mortgage as we sold our house...(no longer rewarding our foolish loyalty)...Does the reclaiming Bank charges include this..I couldn't find any related info.
    THANKS

  • 2 years ago I had a nervous breakdown...and financial planning (and everything else) went out the window..........every once in a while I still get it all wrong..(I know I need to do things but cannot actually do them) and we then exceed our overdraft. last month HSBC charged £100 + interest for this and then this month they charged £125 + interest. The sums involved aren't huge..and they've made no attempt to contact us. Why do fees for overdraft vary like this?

YEAH I WON!! Recieved a letter from halifax, the refund should be in my bank within 5 working days, the amount is all correct including interest. Just want to say thank you all very much, would'nt have done it if it wasnt for all your help and support. So thank you all very much.
  • Doed anyone know if this applies to Small business charges???

I have had a small business for 12 years and i have had charges for the pass 6 years some nearly £400 per month can i claim these back ???

    all help much welcome

    thanks
  • I would like to ask if the bank is able to foreclose on a loan as well as close your account. I have a substantial loan from my bank (on which I have never defaulted) and am concerned that if I claim back the charges on my current account and they close it, that they may also expect me to repay my loan with them immediately (or are they treated as entirely seperate entities?)

    Hello :hello:

I hope that somebody can answer a couple of questions for me.

I've sent my £10 to Abbey but they claim to only hold data for two years and say they cannot send me anything further. Is this true? Charges for the two years equate to about £550 but I know the previous four years will be much worse probably in the region of £2500. Could this be why? and what should I do?

Also I only have access to a work PC which has blocked access to CAG. Could anyone be kind enough to post the wording of the step 2 letter for me?

Thanks in advance for any help. I'm not very good at letter writing and feel quite nervous about this whole process.

Is the block specifically to CAG or unapproved internet access in general? Let's be honest; the employer has every right to ensure that the firm's equipment is being used for the firm's purposes, and it is a favour given not a right held by an employee to make private use of that equipment, nor is it a right of the employee to use the firm'd time for his own private activities.

Whether you have a case against the bank is beside the point here, but if your case is justified then you are entitled to your money. However I think freeloading
on some other person or orgaonisation to achieve that is unworthy.

Sometimes ISTM that those who question the banks' morality should look closer to home.
