It seems like they have a licence to print money. However if I was to use a manual system of paying in some cash and then make a withdrawal this would be permitted so why do the banks etc not use the same principle when it comes to automatic transfers?

Hi , yes i have , it quite often happened to me. Their reason was that the refusal happens at 9am as soon as they start work, so thats why you cant pay in on the same day, or even a Saturday for the DD coming out on a Monday! because its not a business day. A load of rubbish if you ask me!0 -

Brilliant that's some good news. I've just received all of my statements from the past six years but as all the feedback on the Bank Action group website regarding Lloyds TSB suggested they were tough cookies I thought it might be a lot of hassle.
I'm going to spend the evening going through my statements with highlighter pen in hand and get that letter off to them pronto!!My mantra is "Never pay full price!"0 -
I got £28 back but they sent me a weird letter telling me not to talk to anyone about it, and that they will not go back on any charges in the future, i.e. they say they are justified in their opinion and they reserve the right to screw me financially as much as they like in the future and they are within the law!!!??? :rolleyes:Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Back on 3 March, i wrote to my bank, via recorded delivery, asking for a DPA on my account, ie to see which charges had been applied in the last 6 years. I received a letter which said i had to pay a fee of £5 for these. I then called the phoneline and was still told the same. The fee has come out of my account so am just waiting on the statements.
What is my next step? Obv when the statemenst arrive, i highlight the charges, presumably photocopy where there are charges. I assume its then a case of sending the photocopies along with another letter to my bank. But what does the letter inc.?
I have been reading on the other site, bankaction, but i cannot understand any of it. Im not that bright you see...Any advice/info would be greatly welcomed.

Report them if they don't arrive within 40 days of your request, for non-compliance with the DPA (at https://www.informationcommisioner.org.uk)
They need to be TOLD that they are NOT above the law.0 -
Just received statement advising overdrawn on account that was used in error by us in January. Penalty charged taken out twice taking account into unauthorised overdraft.
Phoned India - guy advised me that it was a penalty charge. I then phoned customer services in Milton Keynes ?? explained the situation nicely and after a short while was advised all charges would be cleared.
Many thanks for links and contact numbers on this site.bargain babe0 -

Any advice is greatly welcomed. This has been the bane of my life since the money first went missing in March 2005, and it would alleviate so much stress in my life if I could put this whole thing to bed once and for all.
Hi your post is really hard to read probably why no-one has responded (can you break it up a bit)
I'm no expert but as the fact that they misplaced your money you should be able to take it further than just claiming you charges back, they forced you into an iva that you wouldn't of taken out if it wasn't for them.
You can claim your charges back to same as everyone else, I'm sure dchurch will help you out if you him ask nicley!
Good luck :beer:0
