  • Hi

I'vce followed the process on the site through and this morning received the the court questionnaire. Fingers crossed they back down now. Can you advise what I should do if they don't?

Click on my sig, register there, and post in the YB forum. We have been getting quite entertained recently by YB's pathetic attempts at intimidating claimants with lots of legalese jargon, but we know it can be look daunting if you don't understand what it means.

Hope to see you there soon.

First time on here and I've read this forum with interest.

Could someone please advise if the charges that can be re-claimed only relate to going over your agreed overdraft and the like.

I presume it is not possible to reclaim simple charges relating to using your overdraft (?) I have an HSBC current account and whilst living out of my overdraft was charged 5 or 6 pounds per month for the privilege. Is this standard? Can I reclaim this?

Also, having been in credit for 3 months or so, they are now charging me an interest charge each month regardless. I went into my branch and asked why I was being charged interest for being in credit. They said it was to cover their expenses i.e. sending out statements and the like.

The cheek! I wasn’t even informed of this originally. And I don't need a postal statement because I check online. Can they do this?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks

Firstly, thankyou Bookworm1363 for your invaluable help. Secondly I was wondering if you would just mind answering one further question??
I am going to fight for the rest of MY money and not accept the measly offer they have offered me but was wondering if there is a template letter relating to this or do I just send a letter saying thanks but no thanks??
I have had a look on the BAG website but couldnt find an answer to this question.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi

I'm new to this so please be gentle!!

I've already requested my bank statements and sent my cheque off, from Internet Banking I've roughly estimated that there is around £2500 of bank charges for the last 4 years plus anymore that I work out.

I rang Lloyds TSB the other day about something else and 'dropped in' to the conversation I was still waiting for my bank statements and got quite pally with the woman on the phone and told her I was reclaiming my bank charges. She told me there was quite alot of people doing it and she didn't blame me as the charges were 'ridiculous' (bet they didn't record that conversation)!

Anyway, has anyone had much luck with Lloyds TSB, from what I've seen they've been quite difficult. Can anyone shed any light on how long the process takes as well?

    Thanks

Been away selling my soul to the Army for a bit, so I'm a bit out of touch, but I noticed on my CC statement that HSBC are reducing their late payment fee from £20 to £12, surely because of the whole charges thing being brought to people's attention..people power ;d ;d

Sorry if this has already been answered - but am too impatient to read through all 55 pages to see - does anyone know how to claim money back in Scotland. Moneyclaim is only for people with addresses in England and Wales.

Hello, this might be a silly question. On the moneyclaim form do I select the box to say that my claim will include issues under the Human Rights Act 1988?

No. You are paying for a service (Yeah, I know  ).

It sounds as if you have a different type of account. However, these are not penalty charges and can not be reclaimed. I would strongly recommend changing banks, though!

There isn't a template, no, as we believe it is a fairly simple letter to write.

Personally, I go with the simple:

    "Dear Sir/Madam,

Please be advised I will only accept full and unconditional repayment of the charges claimed.

You now have x days left to comply, as per my previous letter.

    Yours sincerely,

    xxx"
