  • Just wanted to share my good news that MBNA have sent me through a list of charges they took off me when i had my credit cards with them. it comes to £214. I know its not that much but i believe its better in my pocket than theirs.

What do i do next then? do i send the Preliminary approach for repayment letter?

    Regards

    Hi

Just wondering. My Scottish trust deed is due to end shortly and i was just wondering would it still be possible to claim back my charges on my old account with the BOS. The overdraft in this account was included in the trust deed so im unsure if it would work. I will eventually be out of debt shortly but if this could work it would give me a nice start after being debt free as i probably wont get credit anywhere for a while (not that i want any. Set dead against it now).

    Cheers
  • NAT WEST DEFENCE:

I too have received their (last minute) defence. A 5 page document and also a Request for Further Information on a 3 page document, asking for masses of answers to legalese jargon and these answers to be returned within 14 days.

    The claim is for £2600.

Obviously sabre rattling, they want lists, amounts, descriptions, dates of all charges (easy enough to provide that) however the questions are a bit tricky and probably designed to trip you up, or put you off.

How do we proceed to answer now it gets to the nitty gritty?

PS Halifax paid me up to over £500 plus another bank a similar sum but I had a gagging order so I cant name them.
  • Hi,

I have just made my last payment on my car, which is an HP agreement. The finance is with Black Horse Finance who are as far as I am aware part of the Lloyds Bank Group. To my horror, I have just been told that I now owe a further £650 in charges for late and missed payments at £25 a time. I have requested a breakdown of these charges and I am now wondering whether I would be entitled to claim these charges back or would an HP agreement be governored by another set of rules and hence I would not be able to put a claim in? Any advice would be appreciated.

Can I claim back if I dont have a current account? I have a saving's account with clydesdale bank and through no fault of my own my money was not in on time for d/d this month. But it has happened on numerous occassions over the years.Mostly maybe only short 33p but they charge me £35 for that! Just thought I'd double check before putting the letter Ive printed out into the bank lol . Eagerly awaiting your reply:)

    Hi

This made me chuckle, becuase it was exactly what I was coming on here to ask!

Don't know the answer obviously and I've checked the FAQ section of the consumeraction website.

    Anyone else?.....

My girlfriend was charged £30.13 by Lloyds for going over her overdraft limit for less than 24hrs. Couple of Q's:

    1) Is it worth bothering over this £30? Or should we just let it go?
    2) We know the date/time of the claim - am i right in thinking we wont need to pay the £10 Dataprotection fee because we dont need a summary?
    3) Can I just jump straight to "stage 2" i.e. the "you charged us this, we want it back" letter?

    Thanks

You should just call them an explain the situation and if your good lady normally runs her account well I would be surprised if they dont just refund it. If they don't then you are correct in saying you dont need to get all the statements, just write them a a letter asking for the charges back and stating your time frames. Good luck.
And if, you know, your history...

When I first went overdrawn with barclays they charged me but then put the money back saying I'd been a gd customer with a clear past record.
 What I'd like to know now is I'm currently on a debt management program and while this is/was being set up incurred lots of late payments charges and over limit charges, can I still claim these back even though I haven't been paying them any money apart from through debt management company.
Thanks for any advice on this one as if I can it will get the owned amounts down loads especailly when it was their charges that took me over the limits.
