OS Daily Thread - Tuesday 24 March 09

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 24 March 2009. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem

Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Good morning everyone! Hope you're all well today?

Woke really early this morning and couldn't get back to sleep, as my mind's racing with a 101 things that I need to do, so I'm sat at the PC for a while..... About to listen to my hypnotherapy CD to see if that will send me off to nod again.

Didn't get to post yesterday as I had a hectic day, busy at work and then had Choir practice to go to last night, so the PC didn't get turned on at home at all. It was a bit breezy here with us, but I managed to get my load of towels dry on the line outside. That was with hanging them out before 9 and they were still on the line (just, though a couple of pegs had gone AWOL!) when I got home at 6-ish.

I hope that everyone has a good day - hugs all round, whether you need one or not. I think I'll go and catch up on yesterday's thread to see what was happening.

Morning Nessie. Looks like you did'nt get back to sleep.

I am going in to work early today as I am expecting a call to have to go to Birmingham. If it comes off we will zip up there deal with our job, find a TGI fridays for meal on expenses and then come back home again. Should be a long travel day....
Weather has changed here and got very windy and cool. The shower that came with it last night was freezing.
    Better get ready... cheers

Wow! Had a terrific hailstorm during the night. Wild winds too, although all seems pretty calm this morning. Just checked the back garden - greenhouse still in one piece and the cloches are still in place despite not being anchored down:T

Had a thorough going-over of downstairs last night as a new estate agent is coming to do a valuation tomorrow afternoon. I have been with three agents in the past 12 months and all 3 have gone bust! They say the market is picking up slowly, but I haven't seen a 'sold' sign for months:(

Parents Evening tomorrow - expect I will have to invite XH even though he refuses to contribute anything to the fees/travel/uniform. DS (who lives with his father) had parents evening last week. They didn't tell me and took XH's girlfriend instead:eek:

9 more working days until I say goodbye to Dragon Knickers. Only 3 more get-ups til Friday:j

Lunch will be jacket potato (cooked an extra one last night to take to school:T ) and salad. Dinner: rubber chicken, probably with rice n' peas n' peppers
Note to self: shall I risk putting the washing on the line today?
    Have a good day peeps

Morning, I woke at 3.10 and couldn't get back to sleep, so many things buzzing around in my mind.
DD1 is coming to see me to bring a M's Day pressie along with her financal incomings and outgoings, what's the betting the latter is the biggest.
She's not at all O.S. and it shows.
We have bailed her out before but am tempted to say the bank of M&D is closing down. Dreading her spreadsheet.
Spoke to DB2 last night and have persuaded him to come and stay for 4 days next month, can't wait to see him.

I've got the BM going and WM loaded.
Going to make the plate pie with the beef I cooked last night and make a quiche for DD1 and DH for lunch. Will pop to DD1's this pm and check on the roofers, with all the banging, sawing etc. the bedroom ceiling has cracked and the joints between the ceiling and walls have large cracks so I'll have to redecorate. Again.

Off for a coffee, catch up later, have a good day.

Bright & sunny here, but with a chill wind.
Off to work in a sec, DW is on, washing on the line, tea is defrosting in the fridge.
I hope everyone has a good day.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

Goodness there are some early birds on here this morning. I am at work now but not actually started yet so thought I would have a quick read and post.;)

Weather here is bright but freezing in the wind, and rain is forecast for later so I just put washing on the airer before I came to work, daren't hang it out in this wind!

Tea tonight is sweet and sour chicken and rice, lunch is a jacket pot (done with tea last night), yohurt (great offers on at the moment) and fruit.

Hope you all have a good day - hope mine is a little less hectic than yest with all staff shortages, although I had a text before I even left home to say one person is still not coming in - oh well we shall see!!!

Will catch up with all news later.

    Have a good day:D

    Morning all,

Cold but bright on the south coast this morning, my heating has been off for about three weeks now, but if we are in for a cold snap its going back on, it is just about ok now but no colder.

Usual clean through today, not sure if I have any washing to do, but I am sure I will find something, I will also touch up the woodwork today, as I did not get round to it yesterday, another step closer to putting my house on the market :T . Also need to do my Wii fit excercises, I have lost 4lb so far, and everything is firming up, and going back to where it should be :D

Something with smoked haddock for tea, will have to look up recipies as we did not enjoy the kedgeree last week.

Reverbe, so glad you heard fro your OH :T

Have good days all and take care xx

Maybe DS's school would be able to let you know when the parents evenings are, if only to scare your XH?! My DS's school used to write to my ex-OH & tell him when they were, but he never bothered turning up

The wind here yesterday afternoon was really bad and it rained hard to for about 10mins.

As we went out for dinner on sunday we did our own roast dinner at home last night we roasted a rolled up lamb breast. my wife made some stuffing to stuff it! which was very tasty. In the stuffing there was leeks, mushrooms and tyme.

    Morning All

Lillibet - agree with Floss, my neice & nephew's school notify both parents separately.

Cold start this morning but at least the mad wind has gone. Am in the office most of the day just popping out to the library later.

Yesterdays meeting went quite well, not counting chickens but if it pulls off we will be greatly expanding and it will be a lot of hard work. Not all the financial rewards will be ours as my father wants a cut as he introduced us in there 10 years ago. Bit of a difficult situation as our client doesnt actually want him involved. But to be truthful I would rather give up some of the income and be on higher moral ground iykwim.

Anyway enough waffling, need to menu plan for the rest of the week today and do an online shop. Really need to get back to routines - the last week has been mad - I like my routines!

    Have a great day.

Would it be better (if you are in a position to do so) to offer a lump sum as an "introduction fee" and then keep all the income, or allocate a small percentage of "commission" per annum? I guess it would also depend on how high you want your moral high ground to be ;)
