Very long post Zig! Glad you're feeling a bit better though, hopefully it'll pass quickly (not before you've managed to read some books though
)
But christ, your work sounds terrible!! I'd hate to go through all that just to show them I was ill. Ruddy bonkers that is! Surely if it's suspected Swine Flu they wouldn't want you going in just incase?0 -
I have a load of those chick lit type books so I'll make my way through some of them! I do enjoy an easy read sometimes, although Pillars of the Earth is one of my all-time favourite books.
I know, never work for a supermarket! It's all about the money. I'm sure as soon as I mention Swine Flu though it should all be ok and I won't get too much hassle. Fingers crossed anyway!
I'm watching that Sarah Beeny property programme and it really irritates me how no-one ever listens to her advice, and then it turns out they should have. But, anywho, it's not me wasting money!Total Debt (Dec 2015) £11,500 : Currently £7,675Lose 21lb : 0/21

I've never heard of Pillars of the Earth, will have to check it out! I'm reading Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince at the moment, desperately trying to finish it before we go to see it but I can't see that happening as I've still got 500 pages to go and OH said he wants to go tomorrow night! I snuck in a cheeky chapter this morning whilst I was having breakfast and I've brought it to work (I'm reading on the e-book reader I 'borrowed' from my Mum so it's quite discreet!) in case I get a quiet moment and I can get some more read!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Pillars of the Earth is a great book! It's set way back, but it's not too historical, it's more about following a load of characters through their lives. I'm not explaining it very well but it's well worth a read if you like that sort of thing!
Ooh I want an e-book reader thing, what are they like? Is it strange using one? Lol you'll be reading it on the way to the cinema by the sounds of it!I can't wait to see the film, but I've already said to OH that we should go when it's been showing for months, cuz I hate being at the cinema when it's really busy. :rolleyes:

The reader thingy is quite good, it doesn't make your eyes go funny at all and once you get the hang of pressing the 'next page' button at the right time so you're not waiting for it (it takes 2-3 seconds to turn the page) it's good. I'm reading a copy that I downloaded for free i.e. not bought for a ridiculous price off Waterstones.com so there are a couple of odd things about the book and it's not perfect because I think I've found an odd copy (the regular page size is too small to read but when you zoom in it goes a bit funny, but I'm dealing with it!). All in all I'm pretty chuffed with it, just need to get an SD card to stick in it so I can stick loads of books on there! You can put music on it too so I think I'll try that! What's nice as well is that it has a little cover on it so you kind of feel like you're holding a book, I took it off wondering if it would be better without but it just felt odd!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. That does sound like something you'd need to get used to, but worth it I guess rather than lugging a load of books around everywhere. I'll have to wait til they get cheaper I think.
I wish there was more to my debt-busting then just on payday :rolleyes: It means the rest of the month is quite boring money-wise.
I'm off to make lunch! Soup and bread... Tasty. :rolleyes:Total Debt (Dec 2015) £11,500 : Currently £7,675Lose 21lb : 0/21

I think that booksellers need to be more realistic about how much they charge for e-books too, they're not really any cheaper than paperbacks, in some cases they cost as much as a hardback! It seems ridiculous, how can they expect something like that to take off when it costs a fortune to stock the reader up?!
Got a little bit more read at lunch, only 460 pages left to read, do you think I'll do it by tomorrow night?!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Yeah it does seem stupid, I mean, I'd be a target customer cuz I like to read etc, but I can't afford it. And I bet there are a lot of people who want one but can't afford it. More fool them!
Ooh good luck finishing it! Maybe a late night reading session is in order! I used to pretend I was on the toilet when I was a kid so I could finish my book when I was meant to be asleep. :rolleyes:
I have a problem. In the form of a spider. He's quite big and he's in the corner of my room by the ceiling. I dunno whether to leave him there or try and get rid of him. I hate spiders.Total Debt (Dec 2015) £11,500 : Currently £7,675Lose 21lb : 0/21

Urgh, I feel your pain! I just had one of the guys in the office remove a scary looking small but jumpy spider from my desk, it was getting too close to me! It's no good when there's a spider at home, OH's just as scared of them as I am so we have to fight it together, there's a lot of panicked shoe throwing and jumping around- very embarrassing!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Haha! Men are meant to be the knights in shining armour who rid us of enemies like spiders! My OH says he isn't scared of spiders but whenever I ask him to get rid of them he always has an excuse why he can't! :rolleyes: I woke up this morning and the spider was gone. Very worrying. But I've just seen it walk across the wall so it seems the wanderer has returned.
Money news
Well not so much on my part. But I have set up the direct debit from my Mum's card so she will be paying off Tesco. But Halifax wouldn't let me do a direct debit from an account not in my name so I'll just have to make sure I get the money back every month. I went on her account to see how much was left on her Natwest card and there was £567.94 left. So I've just paid that using my overdraft seeings as I had (just) enough in there, and it's 0%. So that is me right up to my limit in credit! But now she can use her money to pay off the balances rather than the interest. Phew.
I'm watching Come Dine With Me, and I'm about to go and have some soup and bread. Apart from a stupidly sore throat I'm feeling better today.Total Debt (Dec 2015) £11,500 : Currently £7,675Lose 21lb : 0/21
