I won't install Rapport if my bank paid me. That thing is like a trojan.

    If you want protection:

    1. keep your Windows up to date
    2. install a good free antivirus (e.g. Microsoft Security Essentials, Avast!, etc)
    3. install a good free antispyware scanner (e.g. Superantispyware, Malwarebytes, etc)
    4. use common sense (e.g. if someone (even your bank) is promoting something, do some research online before getting tricked).

Remember, MSErs, your bank doesn't work for you. It works for itself.

I haven't had any problems with Rapport.
  • I would rather have my teeth drilled without injection than install this thing (well perhaps not, but it's close). However I'm mighty fed up with having to bypass a screen by saying 'no I don't want it' every time I log onto online banking. I hope we don't reach the point where the banks try to side-step liability for online banking fraud if users don't install it. If so I will looking for a new bank.

I really don't know why you people have a problem with it. I never get any pop up windows.I never have to say I don't want it, I never see it.

Probably depends on the bank. HSBC and NatWest do it, some others do not.

Nice to see that reassuring white arrow on green background :)

True, although the same could be said of a tapeworm.
  • I wish that I knew all this before I decided to replace a five-year old PC that was running slowly and erratically. I eventually replaced it because I was so fed up. I would now bet a pound to a penny that it was being hamstrung by the rapport software. I never thought to check that. My bank had told me that it was a wee small program that shouldn't cause any problems at all. Hmm!

can you tell me when(at waht stage) and where you see this ?

I do have Rapport installed but occasionally have had HSBC asking me if I want to download it, so never sure it is working correctly.
