Thanks for all the replies about the dragon and DD, and DD said to say "hello & thank you" for all your kind words.

SIL couldnt come today and just as well really as we are all still abit rough..LOL...and our throats are killing us. Hopefully, if there is a bout of ice cold weather it will clear up some of the germs going around.

Washing is drying on airer, floors downstairs have been swept and moped by OH. Everywhere is pretty tidy. SIL is coming wednesday so the other jobs and ironing can wait till then.

OH popped to Iceland as we needed a few bits. He came back with some bargains and only spent £2.80 as we had a £4 voucher from Birdseye for something we complained about.

Anyways, got to go as feeling a little sicky. Hope everyone is well and those that are not...HUGS.

    Congratulations Michelle, that's wonderful news.

Doesn't it make you mad when being oldstyle is so difficult! I had to buy DD a costume in the end as she insisted on being Cinderella and to buy the fabric would have cost me nearly £35!! (allowing for a few c**k ups on the way).

To buy the most stunning costume complete with all the accessories cost me £19.99 in Woolies. Hardly a bargain still but a darn site cheaper than making it myself. If I wasn't so strapped for time I could have waited until the market and the fabric stall but only having three days notice from the school to choose who she was going to be, find the fabric and make the costume was pushing it a bit.

Still I managed to find Borax and household ammonia in Boots, used my £5 skincare voucher on a Daniel Ryman handcare set, got given another voucher and used it on some Olay stuff for me :D

Oh and we may have a new member soon as the lady on the till at Boots spotted my Borax, I ended up telling her about MSE and she then wrote it down and said she's coming here after work :D

    Good afternoon

    Congratulations to michelle
Pp sorry to hear about dragon

I have been to the optician this morning - not sure whether it counts as moneysaving, cos I ordered contact lenses & 2 new pairs of glasses. On the other hand, the glasses were bogof, & the lenses will cost me £30 per month less than from my old opticians, and i did need new glasses. I already had the £90 saved up that would have paid for 3 months supply of lenses at the old price, so thats half the cost of the 2 pairs of glasses and 1 months lens payment already.
So not as bad as it sounds.
  • Afternoon all.

I overslept badly today - didn't get up until 10.30am. We spent yesterday repainting one of the rooms in the house and my neck & shoulders are *so* sore. Still that horrible egg-yolk yellow is now a nice medium terracotta, which will go wonderfully with the red & burgundy velvet king-size throw on the bed.

Today I am working from home and making a list of people to tell the new address. I've just found out that our council has a nifty on-line thing with all local organisations connected for one big notification - wish I'd found it earlier today.

Shopping trip today. I don't get paid until tomorrow, but have £30 left so that should cover all the perishables. We're eating down food stocks to haveless to move - my store cupboard is starting to look bare around the edges - it's so sad
Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!

    Hi everyone!
Having had a busy weekend am hoping today is going to be a little quieter. The small person lost both of his top teeth and now is sporting a big gap and a rather fetching lisp. He thinks it's fab because Mary the Fairy has been twice and he's £2 better off whilst I'm £2 down :D
We seemed to do a lot of cooking this weekend. My sister's just moved so had a clear out of her cupboards [to me!!] so we inherited an ale sauce which OH made into a delicious pie and converted the leftover pastry into marmite cheese straws. Also made HM chicken nuggets for the first time [they were so easy that I can't think why I didn't try them before] and chocolate crunchies for lunches.
Have been really enjoying the We'll Eat Again book although OH raised his eyebrows when I mentioned Parsley Honey.....think I shall have to work on him a bit longer :rotfl:
Tonight I shall be cleaning our filthy boots from our walk yesterday [lots of lovely catkins out] and making the veg bake from the recipe section.
Am needing to cut back fairly sharpish next month as looks potentially to be an expensive one- the fence fell down in the winds on Sat, the car needs a MOT and we're going to need new anti virus software  Shall have to hang around here even more. Well that's my excuse!!

OMG Aril, I remember Mary the Fairy, she used to come to our house when I was of a tooth-losing age! She's clearly more generous than she was 20 years ago cos I only used to get 10p per tooth (and yeah, a pound was the going rate back then too!) but then again she used to leave poems and little hand-drawn cartoons of herself :rotfl: :rotfl:

Are you sure you're doing this yourself or has my dad decided to bring Mary out of retirement and back into the business :rotfl: :rotfl: She retired when my little bro started losing teeth, her friend Groucho the Elf took over cos Mary thought a little boy deserved somebody a bit more macho to deal with his teeth :rotfl: :rotfl: I had visions of her sitting on a Caribbean island somewhere with a cocktail.

moggins we shall wait with bated breath to see of your new friend from Boots turns up! Better make sure she finds the Boots thread on the Grabbit board as well...

next time try the local charity shops firts as they often have ball gowns for adults or bridesmaids and the material can be adapted with trimmings etc.

I got a black circular skirt and spangly material for £2 for the lot and turmed it into a witches outfit for DD - cut out shapes of bats, cats and crescent moons from the material and appliqued them to the skirt.

    Hello everyone

I'm not going to pretend that I've read any of the thread, just wanted to tell someone that Mr Taxman sent me a cheque for nearly £400!!! Whooppee...!! I wasn't expecting it at all (yes I know I should check my payslips etc etc ...but..). I rubbed my little Buddha's tum this morning, and said to myself "as if". So thank you Buddha, and thank you sweet tax man...

    Oh and it's payday...

    Catch you all later...

I love this book. Try the rolled oat macaroons - DH loves them and they're almost good for you made with sunflower/ olive marg - all those oats. The rock bun recipe is also good - specially the jammy version

I did, I tried every single one in town and we're not exactly short of them here. Not a ball gown or blue satin dress in any of them!! All I found was a blue satin nightie and that didn't have enough fabric in to it fully cloth a doll :D
