OS Monday 27th February

Good morning.

Just got back from seeing off friends on a long haul flight. Collected them from Luton yesterday and they continued their journey home tonight. The world gets smaller every day. icon7.gif

No work today so am planning to continue my major sort-out once I have had some sleep, the objective being to make enough space to fit in a chest freezer. Bye-bye guest bedroom, the space will be used much more as an office with additional storage.... and a diddy little chest freezer icon10.gif. I'm sure my 3 drawer built-in freezer in the kitchen was designed to take convenience stuff not real food icon9.gif. 2 batches of HM soup and a lentil bake and it is groaning with the strain! :rotfl:

Need to catch up on laundry or the work clothes will run out before the weekend comes round again. DW and BM both on, in fact I'm tempted to stay up and have a slice of fresh bread.

Hope you all have a good one and we can all share some smiles today, I'll get us started,

Edit to add this bit of gobsmaking info. Someone asked me if there was anything in particular I would like for my birthday and the immediate response was "yes, one of those hand blenders from the Tesco value range".

Is there a cure?

  • Good morning everyone.

I've had a great morning getting a few jobs done around the house. The dog is shedding so there is hair everywhere. Have joined the March Grocery Challenge today so am motivated to cut back my food expenses.

Thanks to everyone who has posted meal plans I will definately be following some of your great advice. We are in the habit of eating the same meals so I'm looking forward to some variety.

    Have a great day.

Thank you to MSE contributers who are a great help to keep me motivated to take care with my spending.
  • :hello:

First time posting on the daily thread, but have decided that as this is the start of a big week for me I will try and join in!
Just finished typing up my resignation letter :D:, am really looking forward to handing it in and starting my new job. Better hours and closer to home. I am hoping that I will be able to put more OS tips into use. Have been reading and using the tips for ages, but just recently life seems to have been taken ove.
Anyway, am now getting back on track :)

    Plans for today include:
Go swimming once I've finished this
Make pack up for today as on a course
Put BM on when I get back from course
Pop to library and bank during my lunch break - need to pay off my amazon card.
Plan to try Black Saturns fruit cobbler tonight - OH will be amazed :D

Hope everyone else has a good day, and hugs to those not feeling well.

    Take care

    Good morning everyone

Well I've done the half marathon - just. I pulled my hamstring quite badly, so was limping the final 2-3 miles. I probably should have stopped so an not to hurt my leg anymore, but I had to finish - I wanted my medal!! Not to mention I'd have lost over £100 for charity by not finishing. It took me about 3hours 15 minutes, which was only 5 or so minutes behind someone who regularly runs 10 miles. (This was 13.1 miles) I was last, but I really don't care. At least I did it and I finished it! I just know not to do it again!

Was laid up the rest of yesterday, and had to be driven to work this morning, and I've been told off for coming into work as I can hardly walk.

Hope everyone else is in a better state than me!

Working from home today due to my car problems. Don't really know what's going to happen this week and I'm very worried about it all. However, there is nothing that I can do until the insurance guys sort themselves out. It would be so much easier if I just knew what was going to happen. With luck the other guys will admit responsibility, the car will be written off and so i twill have as little affect on me as possible. Have a funny feeling that this won't be the case though. Probably just a bad case of worry-wart-itis though.

Still feel like I've had all the stuffing kicked out of me. I'm going thorugh the motions, but feel a little depressed.

Went to the hospital Saturday morning and turns out I have a mild case of whiplash. Its not too bad, and if what I was told right I should only get better from here on in.

Today's plans is simply to try not to worry about the car & the insurance. I know its only a thing....and things can be replaced, whereas I can't. If I keep telling myself that hopefully it will sink in.

Best wishes to everyone in need.

    Good morning all!!!!
scuzz - well done on the half marathon :T

Well, typical Monday blues have set in! Back to work, mad rush to get kids ready for school etc...However, we're quite organised at the moment - kids washed, dressed and had breakfast, I'm showered and dressed (just got to dry my hair!) Packed lunches are ready, DW full - just needs to go on and WM needs putting on (again!)

I've also prepared tonight's dinner (cheese & potato pie) which is in the fridge, ready to put in the oven when we get home. It's amazing that a bit of careful planning and effort the night before will make the evening rush so much easier!! Now that I'm working til 5pm 3 days per week, I've got to be organised - or I can see us relying on the good old takeaway!

Hope everyone has a great day!!

  • Morning all

Back to work today after having 2 days off sick last week. I REALLY don't want to go back..... why is it the more time off you have, the harder it is to go back ;)

Packed lunches are made, DD is dressed, DH has already left for work and I've got to jump in the bath and wash my hair etc etc

Need to stick a load in the TD and another load in the WM - ever increasing circles :rotfl:

    B: Cereal
    L: Packed Lunches
    D: Enchiladas

    See you all later!
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)
  • Morning everyone, welcome Amanda666 you'll love it here!

Quite a hetic weekend with loads of people milling around for one thing or another so really need to bottom house today as only the bare essentials were done and MIL up tonight instead of tomorrow as we 've got an open evening at school to do with DS GCSE's next year, Dropping DD off at my sis so we can fully concertrate on whats been said.

Spent ages looking at the various meal plans other people had posted yesturday which has given me inspiration as its payday tomorrow and new meal plans need to be done, so THANKS everyone for them, can't wait to try them out.

Anyway the troops are out of bed and need feeding, have a good day all, take care

Welcome Amanda666 :hello: Wow, it *does* sound like a big week! Good luck in your new job, hope your final days/hours in the present one speed by merrily :D:D

WTG scuzz!!!! :j :j :j Very well done! Sorry to read about your hamstring though *ouchie* - plenty of rest!
rchddap1 - ((hugs)) Hope the whiplash heals well and fast! Sending calming vibes your way to ease your worries. If you keep a pamper basket, today sounds just the day to indulge!!

 Racy!! 'Fraid there's no cure ... except to be granted your wish ;) :rotfl:

brummiebabe - you sound remarkably organised! :T WTG! Try not to work too hard but have a good day.
Heaps to do today after my very lazy day yesterday (didn't even get up until almost 9am; that's almost unheard of!)

Washing will be put on shortly, but it will need to be dried indoors because rain is forecast (if it holds off long enough, I shall put the airers on the patio and whip them in quick when the rain comes).
The bedrooms need a thorough going over, not a long job, simply an awkward on because of the furniture.

B: Porridge with sultana's and linseeds
L: Ham and cucumber on sunflower bread (boys have flapjack and fruit too)
D: Tonight will be Calzones to use up the hm bolognaise sauce that's in the fridge, with salad
Tonight we're shield making so I need to get in the loft and dismantle one of the boxes that's up there. At least it's a fun project so I don't mind "helping" :rotfl: Right must research the style of shield I suppose.

Take care and have a good day, everyone :):):)

Ice - good luck at the meeting tonight
stressed - morning to you too :D Hope going back isn't as bad as the thought of it feels.

Quickie post this morning - back to work after the week off.
Really appreciated the rolls I made up yesterday -easier in the morning.
Hung a wash on the drying racks and fed cat and kitten. Most time spent chasing dd into getting reday. She is now eating Almond crossiant and PJ smootie for breakfast from yesterday's very cheap 'reduced to clears'.

    Have a lovely day everyone.
  • Morning all.

Today starts the big lead-up to my parents visiting on Sunday. So, I have to tackle the garden - get the mud patch that used to be grass raked down and tidy looking, plus find the patio under the accumulation of stuff (mostly rubbish of one kind or another) that has arrived over the winter.

Mum usually brings plants of some kind or another for the garden. She grows her own and always has far too many - so we're the lucky recipients of the extras. Hence, she will have an interest in the garden - and currently it looks like a bomb has hit it.

DH is in charge of dinner tonight, so I don't need to worry myself over it or spend time on it. So I'll be hoping for a dry day!

So far, birdies are cleaned out and fed, toilet is cleaned, email is done.

Better get cracking, or we'll be late for school!!

    Have a great day, everyone.

    B : porridge
L : leftover beef stew from last night
    D : mackerel and salads
:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:
