Raising your body temperature a little helps you sleep, hence a warm bath before bed can help and making sure that you are warm enough in bed. HTHTess x

Best thing I ever did was join a yoga class! I learned how to breathe properly and how to slow down my mind and relax. Amazing results for one who used to watch TV until it got light then panicked cos I hadn't had enought sleep before I went to work..........
Oh, and I'm a lot more supple than I used to be !!!!!!Everything in moderation..............including moderation..............0 -

Good posts above. I have had to wean myself away from the site due to my growing addiction, which was keeping me awake. Best remedy for sleep is a banana and a couple of crackers for supper. No caffeine after 6pm Enough warm water during the evening. Stay away from the pc after 8ish. Read a superficial book in bed for 20 minutes0

I read in an ancient book about honey that it is one of the best sleep remedies. Mix half a cup of honey with two teaspoons of wine vinegar. Take two teaspoons of this mix before bed and then at twenty minute intervals if you cannot sleep, or during the night if you wake up. It works for me

Lavender is the one that works for me - a few drops in a bath before bed.
The other thing, if its a busy mind thats keeping you asleep, try listening to an audiobook.
I've been listening to the same Harry POtter CD to go to sleep now for about 2 months, if you know the story it doesn't keep you awake, it distracts you from those busy thoughts, and I'm sure after time it conditions your brain that its time for sleep.0 -
I tend to stick to light reading too. Not high tension drama stuff, but nice relaxing humorous books. Wind down with a smile and that'll be the thing your brain plays most on while you're asleep.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Lots of helpful advice and tips have already been suggested. I like the lavender tips too. Did you know that you can get Radox shower gel in lavender fragrance too? You might prefer a shower to a bath.;)
You are to be commended for your dedication to board guiding on MSE but as has been mentioned..........it won't help you to sleep.
I like the banana suggestion..........and did you know that chocolate is also good for helping you to sleep?:D
Make sure you've got the pc switched off, the bedroom temperature is not too hot or cold and is well ventilated, you've eaten a banana or some chocolate and the lighting is low.
If you're bothered by a snoring partner, I can recommend foam ear plugs.
Kind Regards

Nile. Chocolate is stimulating and can also lead to heartburn at night. The banana stimulates seratonin, the relaxing neurotransmitter. Calms everything down including digestive system, mood etc0
