I haven't tried Moby !!!!!!, but I can vouch for Virginia Woolf being utterly boring. However, I would also recommend either Lord of the Rings or better still War and Peace! :rotfl:(or the Thomas Covenant series of books). All guaranteed to make you fall asleep very quickly.
  • I am back to having problems too at the minute, and can't have baths because of water restrictions (being cut off at nights - we didn't know last night and have airlocks as a result!).

One thing that often works is that I have a collection of regency M&B novels - not too smutty, sweet stories, not usually too adventurous - and all so well read that I know the story backwards. But can be relaxing for a half hour before turning off lights.

Must try lavendar again through, forgot about that.

ETA: Last week, as I was coughing a lot, I had a lemon drink before bed (my usual - squeeze a lemon, add 2 teaspoons honey, fill with boiling water) and added a dash of brandy. That was the only night I slept through last week!

An electronics engineer friend of mine used to read electronics parts catalogues to his insomniac toddler. He managed to stay awake but it was guaranteed to bore the child into dreamland. :D

I have done Sudoku puzzles at bedtime for years to send me off to sleep. It works so well as a non-chemical sleeping tablet that I can't do Sudokus in the daytime now because I associate them with sleep and I end up crashing out :o.
