    Dentists

    I was brave I went..
after extensive x-rays he says he cant do anything to re-build my tooth, to make matters worse he wants to remove that and 3 others and replace with false ones. It would seem I have received poor dental work in the past that has lead to a jaw infection, root canal surgery that drilled into my jaw  (i saw on x-ray but cant feel any problems) I am left with my gap for another two weeks. He took impression today to get the false ones made up. I will have the 4 teeth removed on the day my new ones come.
Not all bad news though, the cost for my treatment should have been £700 iv had to pay £200. The first course of treatment at this dentist unknown to me is done on NHS fees basis.
I have also spoken the the family who run the campsite we have used a few times, they have a pitch available for the week im off work (aug high season) and have reduced the price from 210 to 140. Things will be tight but we should be able to go.
still feeling a bit depressed but things are looking up.

Well done on taking the bull by the horns NM and getting it sorted.

Good news about the campsite. There are some good people out there.

    Hi NM

Glad you are getting the teeth sorted....sounds like a good price too...I was quoted £125 just for a filling!

Your weeks holiday will give you something to look forward to...makes all the difference.

    Take care, Angiexx

Thanks all, your support is appreciated. I know I have had worse, but I guess when it is your appearance it gets to you more. Iv thought about it all day and have decided to take action against my previous dentist. Im not sure if i will get anywhere but this first lot of treatment will cost £200, that is £200 I would have not had to pay if he had done the work right in the first place. I am not going to claim thousands but would be happy if they covered the cost of the work I need doing now. I also have to have a tooth removed due to the fact he did not clean and fill it right, but covered up the problem with a metal crown leaving the tooth to rot away under it. The other 3 need removing due to the infection and swelling almost pushing them out anyway.
I know this does not have that much to do with BR but it does show how you can struggle with emergencys after BR. Gosh thinking back now the £25 per month for both me and OH perscriptions and dentist will not cover the work i have to get done, make sure you put enough down!!
Lately I feel like im on some kind of rollarcoaster ride all ups and downs.
But.. hey at least ill have my new teeth before my holiday!
    hugs to everyone x

Good on you NM. All medical professionals need to be accountable if there are complications.

Be positive....remember the momentum in going downwards will push up back up the other side again !

Gosh I am in philosophical mood tonight. Must be something in my Horlicks!!

Should have posted on here first.
as the title says this is the end of my BR Journey. Arrived home from work today to find a letter from the OR NOTICE TO BANKRUPT ENCLOSING A SEALED COPY OF THE EARLY DISCHARGE NOTICE. EDNOT stamped by the court I went BR in.
It came as a very pleasant shock, we have had no forms to fill in, no income payments questionaire nothing so I really was not expecting it.
It has been a very emotional week I must say!!
I feel so releived, I can win the lottery now :-)

I feel this is really where life begins.. a future of budgets and spending within our means. Some very valuable lessons learnt and in the whole the experience has brought our family closer together. Celebrated with a take away and bottle of lambrini.. it will be champagne when I can afford it in a few years!!

I did check the insolvency site but it still says I am BR and date of discharge is automatic on next January, I will keep checking it though and if it does not get updated within a month I will contact the OR as it will be about then I will begin the credit clean up.

A big thanks to all the support I have received, the friends I have made and this site. I will be sticking around to carry on giving advice and support where I can.

To anyone new reading this diary, yes its emotional but you get through BR. There is light at the end of the tunnel and a decent life thereafter. You have probably made the hardest decision in going BR, I wish you all the best in your future!
