Yes it is a good friday, MIL has sent off the cheque to the Trustee today. They wont receive it until Tue or Wed but the deed is done. The houses are sorted.
MIL has been brilliant throughout all of this, couldnt have coped without her I know she wont be reading this but, Thank you for everything you have done.
I have bought a couple of bargain plants today to brighten up the garden, our old b&q store was closing down (due to a superstore opening 5 miles away) so managed to pick up some a great prices.
Easter eggs bought for the kids, buy one get one free at tesco so me and OH treated ourselves to one each too! Had a £100 bonus from the boss (not even appeared on wage slip!) so that has come in very handy, with the eggs and cheap plants oh and a small bottle of £5 vodka to celebrate tonight with I still have £79 left! put away for a rainy day (not that it can get much worse than today!..
Life is good....... for a change!0 -
NM, just read your whole diary and am so relieved to hear the happy ending for the house and car. Like you I'd love to grow fruit and veg but as my garden is just a rubble filled mud patch infested with ground elder it will have to wait for a while until I can afford to do it.
Enjoy the easter eggs,BR 08/06/09 ED 10/03/10BSC member 2500 -
thanks Lightattheend, This journey has been a rollarcoaster of a 3 months!
What is around the corner i dont know, my main concern was always the house and car, the outcome was fantastic with the house, I was bitter about the car but after saving all that on the house it makes up for it! I guess the IPA will come next.. our income is so up and down it will be hard.
Thought of growing things in containers? tesco have some great big black pots at about £2 each,0 -
Thanks NM, might try that. I have a largish area at the side of the house upon which I want to build two large raised beds and grow in them but thats the area with the worst of the ground elder! I've bought something to treat the ground elder and once I've cut the worst of it down I might try your tub idea as a starting point.
Good luck with yours.BR 08/06/09 ED 10/03/10BSC member 2500 -
Forgot to say... MIL had to write 2 cheques out for 3k each, the first payable to my OH and the other to Me. I may have difficulty opening account in my name but the Trustee has opened one for each of us.. wonder if we can nick them once the BR over? lol0

NM, don't take it to heart. You know the struggle you've had to get to this point, we've all read about it and we can see nothing wrong with what you've done. Seems she may have spoken out without actually thinking things through, and your OH is probably right. Oh and by the way, council housing isn't necessarily an easy option either - takes a very long time to be rehoused, and there is the potential for a large outlay at the start. I needed to decorate (only basic magnolia and white) and carpet a whole 3 bed house and don't get me started on the garden which isn't useable until I get some money together to do it!
We're here for you,BR 08/06/09 ED 10/03/10BSC member 2500 -
Yes, NM several people have had the same reaction from people they thought were friends - even family members! I know it hurts but think of how much fun you had in the garden with your daughter and forget the 'friend'. The people who are really important to you are the ones who live in your home - and MIL of course!
As for how much the house is worth you'll never know the true value of a house until you sell it.

Sorry to hear this NM, you certainly find out who your true friends are when the chips are down!
My sister is a bit like this, she only talks to me when I'm having trouble in my life, when I split from my OH etc, it's like she's gloating that her life is better..
I'm sure she feels bitter towards me that I just "wiped out" all my debt and am free to go merrily on my way, but this is probably because she has credit cards and catalogues etc and her husband lost his job so she is now struggling...
You just have to learn to ignore these ignorant people, even if they are friends or family, there will always be people who do not know the facts and will make rash judgements based on ignoranceBSC No: 2450
