Weird that life goes so quiet - no more phone calls, very little post. Hope the dentist doesn't cost you too much and you get your week away :grouphug:

nervousmother-I've just read your story for the first time and can relate to a lot of what you have said. Although it my OH that went bankrupt, I've lived it every day with her and know how tough it can be. I'm pleased that everything is currently working out and that you've been able to deal with the trustees. Everytime you get over one hurdle, they come back with something else and it's all about their fees.

I hope you get your holiday and enjoy it.

Thank you twokatz, we hope to get it too we will one way or another just may not be on a real site in a different county..

Your so right about the Trustee, its a rollercoaster full of ups and downs I just dont think there is anything left for them to take, unless you count my diamonds and i hope they dont touch them (joke incase someone off another board is reading this!!)
There is nothing that has happened leading up to the BR that they can argue about, Mil was the only thing allthough deep down I would have liked them to approach the IR to recover all that tax we paid!
We have nothing to sell in order for me to cover the dentist.. without my car I cant work.. im trying not to worry about it though honest..

    Hi Nervous,
Really sorry you're feeling browbeaten by dentist and car. Re the Trustee, in the one and only (!) conversation we had, shortly after he was appointed, the ED idea was floated as a carrot, and "suspension of discharge" (huh?) as a stick. In the end, once they had (I presume) finished their investigation - a pointless exercise given the OR had already finished his before my case was handed over - I never heard from them again. And still haven't. AD has now gone through, so I'm guessing that they assess how much dosh they can make and if it isn't much, or it's already been exhausted, they simply do the minimum required of them. Whether that's signing off, or simply waiting for AD, I don't know. I know it's stressful being under them rather than an OR, and god knows it's horrid when you have expensive stuff looming and you haven't a clue how to pay for it, but they can't get blood out of a stone. So here's hoping you have a good summer, staycation or otherwise.

  • Hi
I'm just about to start the paperwork to set everything going for BR...and I too have major dental work needed!

I have 3 missing front teeth which devastates how I feel about the way I look and really affects my confidence - especially with job hunting. I find people I don't know look at my mouth when I talk, which then makes me stutter (and I never had one of those before!) as you can clearly see I'm a toothless hag! I can't get treatment on NHS dentist for work needed [I need sedation and they only do it to take the teeth out, not put them back so I have to pay full wack - cheapest quote £1400] About to start a mutitude of money raising efforts to pay for it (de-clutter for Ebay, car boot sale, local ads offering cleaning and ironing locally, the get paid to click daily challenge...)

I really do get how you feel. I'm going to try to get the dental costs allowed somehow on the paperwork - cant eat properly without the teeth so is a medical not strictly cosmetic issues!

Camping - is it any cheaper to join the caravan & camping club, pay the membership fee to get the cheaper pitch rates? Not tried it but worth looking at?

"Membership of the Club costs £36.00 plus a £10.00 joining fee which is waived if you pay by Direct Debit"

I did a search for a tent pitch for Scarborough, as its a close seaside place I know well!

Members' family deal £28.48 [I think this is per night?]

Still not cheaper than the £200 a week, but could you do a 5 day trip and maybe do another one when its not High season? Maybe early spring next year? Perhaps carefull searching within a milage radius can uneath hidden price treasures?

Not sure how old your kids are, but I always did well over the last 10 years camping in places with nothing other than loos/showers with carefull planing (my sisters and friends kids - single mums on v low incomes) These kids were fairly couch potatoe/TV/games console kids not used to doing fun things together. Last trip last year and it still worked well

Heres what they did - from 5 years old and up to 17!:

    1. Get the kids odd jobbing locally or with friends/family to save for their trip spends. Or even you if you have time!! Pennies and pound coins add up
    2. find good old fashioned board games and play them with the kids - look in Pound shops, charity shops, ask friends/family of grown up kids to empty their cupboards and donate.
    3. Get a sturdy box with a lid. Collect cheapy/free/donated items to make a "Blue Peter" box for creative play eg pens, paints, pencils, paper pads, glue stick, scissors, old gift wrap/boxes/card etc anything to make things from/with. Ours cost a fiver to put together and lasted for 3 years, the kids got the hang of recycling big time and had hours of fun making things that they then played with for hours. Kids liked collecting to put stuff in the box too. They made numersous snakes and ladder/ludo games over the years...even a pirates of the carabean version that was 4 feet square! Took them hours to make bless 'em lol
    4. Again, Pound shop - they have usually got tenis [plastic racket and foam balls] and badminton stuff, footballs, skipping ropes etc. Make obstical courses with tasks between the running bits with the kids and then enjoy racing through them. We always had other peoples kids joining in with getting this set up (they'd bring things to contribute to the course too) and met other parents for a chat too. The courses got longer the longer we were camped!
    5. Never underestimate the power of a good story and imagination - gets easier the more you do it. Read them, make them up, get the kids to make them up, take turns in making up the next bit of the story etc, the funnier the better, draw stories, make your own books (Blue Peter box time!) Good to get them chilling out before bed
    6. Join in playing with the kids, they get so much more out of spending time with you (as you will with them). Its time that matters and makes memories, not the money spent (ask the 17 year old what his fave hols were as a kid and he tells his mates about mad camping trips, which they think sound more fun than being bored after 3 days abroard because there was "nothing for bigger kids to do" - weird!)

    Good luck
    Liz
:D me with new teeth lol

Sorry your having dental problems too :-( I may be joining the dentists own dental plan, it will cost me £12 a month (got to sign up for a year) with that i will get a reduction on any work I think its about 30% but im not sure. We had saved up £300 for a holiday at begining of august but I know the money will get used up, I am determined the kids wont suffer and one way or another we will get them away, they are not young but last year we went camping and had a brilliant time, we have loads of board games and always have fun with those, we also still members of the English herritige so that gives us some good free days out, thanks for the tips regarding a box i will start looking out for cheap things now, my eldest has a part time job so is ok for spends, the youngest two have saved up the past 6 months, they have even done a car wash on the street washing neighbours cars.. great apart from we are on a water meter!
I may even do a bit of begging to see if the family whos campsite we visit on a regular basis can do us a deal...

I have nothing to sell. cant get credit. can not ask family as they have helped us out soooo much as it is.
I will be honest I wish I had got my teeth sorted before the BR they are all weak and was recommended having veneers or something similar on most of my teeth, the reason I did not have it done was the price tag of 6k, but saying that I know I would have felt very guilty and probably ended up with a BRO. At least i have a honest smile :-)
