 just had a word with school headteacher, she will not authorise the children to have the time of school , we have nver asked before, and would not have booked if there had been information on schools website letting us know when they return, what would happen if we just took them out, Dave

you may get a fine, depends how strict they are ! but doubt it

but it will go down as unauthorised

when and how many days do you need to take them out for ?

I think it will just show as an unauthorised absence, as long as they don't have to many of them, not really much they can do "!

apparantly they should return on the tuesday 1st, but that is now an inset day, so should return wednesday 02, so would miss wednesday, thursday, friday, ironically if they had information on the schools website we would not have booked that holiday, we would have stuck with perran sands on the 24 august, but the only way i found out there could be a problem is when i checked another schools website round the corner from our school and that said there kids returned on the 02 september, but by then we have already booked our holiday, oh well it will have to go as unauthorised abscence then, and hope we dont get a fine, Dave

hmm spose start of term is worse than missing end of term

getting to know new teachers / pupils etc

what years are your children in?

not sure i would take mine out for the start of new term / year ,but it's your call and what you feel comfortable with :)

one will be in class 5, the other class 3, i would have thought it be better to take them out at beginning of term rather than end of term, they need to make there minds up, last year they went back on the 4th, this year supposed to be the 1st if not for inset day, like i say if we had the infomation before we booked, we would have stuck with the 24th option, but we presumed as in previous years, it would be the first monday in september, what makes it worse, is when i asked the headteacher this morning, she did not even know, if she dont know, how are we supposed to?, Dave

  • Yippee! Managed (finally!) to get one for the August Bank Hol w/e. Not at any of our first 20-odd choices of parks - a bit further away than we wanted to go - but we are limited in when we can take hols, so good timing for us.

We got Bude Hol Park (no'85) - anyone been there before?

Good luck to those still looking!
