I think its fair to say she's being a tad selfish :rotfl:
I think she should get married where she wants but having had many friends get married abroad they've all been very open and flexible i.e we'd love you to come but no pressure.Looking for the perfect home and saving to make becoming a MFW easier

Oh well - MIL has agreed to lend us the money for the car -she is selling her shares to do it...
she says she doesn't want any interest as she wasn't earning any money on them anyway...
She is amazing :A especially as she's said there is no rush to give her the money back!
Another bit of good news looks like (because our 2nd car's problems aren't obvious) that we could get up to £700 for it :j- so we might not need to borrow quite as much for it which would be great. I'll let you know if it pans out like that.
We looked at one car today but had a funny feeling about it - it also had a warning light come on and smelled funny after I'd driven it so we decided to give that one a miss. Going to see another one tomorrow which should give us a part ex and let us potentially pay by card if we wanted too. It comes with a 28 day warranty on the engine and gear box and we could buy a further warranty if we wanted for about £300.... Will look at what Martin and crew advice on that...
We've done hpi checks too and the car has come up clean so that is one good thing... They would also give us 12 months mot which the one today wouldn't...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thankfully (for me atleast) my best friends has been postponed until further notice, she wants me to be one of the bridesmaids but 1, we couln't afford to travel down and to pay for somewhere to stay and 2, she wants to get married in a cave??!!! I have a little problem with small spaces where I can't see an exit, I'm ok in lifts as I know they only lt a minute, but I'd have to be in the cave for a while
Hope you can make your sister understand the position your in
Take care, will try and pop in through the week but will only have my Mum's laptop while at hers so wont be on as much as I have been

Thanks to my posters and readers! Hope you are having a good day!
Well we have put a deposit down on a car....
Their Car
£4K plus £125 road tax plus £300 warranty?
Our Car
they will give us £600 for plus cash in road tax which could be up to £100
Not sure what insurance difference will be - hoping it will be similar
£4425 - £700 = £3725. Thinking of still borrowing £4K from MIL s that would then almost cover this week's previous car expenses!
Hopefully should have £100 coming in from car that I am scrapping too...
Feel cars have completely dominated my thoughts recently! I still need to prepare for tomorrow's interview
I then ideally need to get the windscreen chips filled in on car no 2 before we trade it in and arrange pick up of the scrapped car no 1...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi SH,
Not had a chance to get on for a few days, very little posts from me I'm afraid! Good news on the car, but what is the sister all about! Does she live in Israel?0 -
She does live in Israel but wants to move back to England but they need to be married first really for him to be able to live here... She is also incapable of or unwilling to work (probably the former) so is reliant on him for an income. She wouldn't qualify for benefits as she hasn't lived in this country for most of her adult life (she has lived in 3 other countries instead!) and he wouldn't be allowed access to benefits for the first x number of years so it is all really complicated. They have debts where they are and the money that he earns in Israel is not enough to repay them.... making things even more complicated...Swinstie73 wrote: »but what is the sister all about! I would have more sympathy and interest if I had even met the guy but I haven't. She sounds and looks very unhappy on the few occasions in recent years when I've met her so "not really selling" the whole idea that this guy is good for her to me.... making me doubly reluctant to go to the wedding... not sure it is the right thing for her altho obviously not my decision and I haven't said that to her - don't have a strong enough relationship....
May delete all references to this off my posts soon in case she or her friends find this....:eek:Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
