Well had my hair done which looks nice again now but got rung while in the hairdresser to basically be told our second car (as well as the first) is uneconomical to repair  as when they have gone to fix a problem today they discovered another problem which could cost a further £1K! I blubbed in the hairdressers.....
as I have already spent on that car alone £300 this week - should have been another £285 today but I told them not to do the work...:o
We will need to buy a new car therefore either a) depleting our savings or b) adding to our debts in some way. We will need to live off our savings from this month onwards so really we are looking at adding to our debts which is not great... just trying to find the cheapest way of doing it and setting a resonable budget for the car... Considering spending up to £4K - need to resist spending more if poss however tempting as it is always possible the next job could come with a car....
To top my day off totally my sis in another country sent me an emotionally blackmailey type email about her wedding abroad which she is planning in the autumn but still has no fixed date for putting pressure on us to come! I've already told her we can't afford it but she isn't listening.... She is planning it to take place within weeks of my other sis's wedding and missed her off the email so as you can probably guess that went down a storm:rolleyes:!
On that happy note I will say bye bye for now.... and hope you are all having a better time of it...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi SavingH,
Sorry to hear things are not so good for you this week. I really hope you are able to find a car within your budget.
It definitely sounds like your sister hasn't taken in the information that you can't afford her wedding. Maybe ringing her would be a good idea and explain about the cost of the 2 cars.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Oh SH :grouphug:Big hugs for you there hun. You really are in the thick of it at the moment.
Sorry to hear about your cars, I hope that you can sort something out soon to rectify the situation. As for family, yup they can be a pain sometimes; hopefully your sister will listen to you especially if you tell her about your current situation.
Happy new hair cut BTW

Rough few weeks.... understatement of the year I think
Very quiet on the job front - interview Monday but likely to be 2 further stages after that even if they like me
One bit of good news MIL has said she will lend us the money for the car providing she has it - just need to talk to BIL to arrange access!
So we will be going car hunting - increasing our debt but interest free and leaving our savings to cushion our monthly living expenses while I am out of work.
OH's motorbike is due its MOT in August just hope that doesn't bring more bad news as don't really want to have to buy 2 vehicles right now! :eek:Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi Shelley - sis not listening to anyone. Most of the family don't even have valid passports and they are nearly £80 each now too! Her answer re cost - just slap it on the credit card - you've done it before do it again!!! One of my other sis is out of work too and another is on incapacity... where does she think any of us are going to get the money from?!!!
Hope your car gets thro the mot okAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Where are they getting married? Are they having party / celebration in this country at some stage?Looking for the perfect home and saving to make becoming a MFW easier

Israel - where the marriage won't even be recognised as she is not Jewish..! So they will also be getting married in Cyprus - so that it is legally recognised. Since she's British and coming over for my other sis's wedding anyway soon I don't understand why they don't get married here rather than Cyprus!! She hasn't even set a date yet - but expects people to drop everything to come if and when she does set a date - ignoring any schooling or money issues! I don't feel safe going to Israel and also just regard it as a waste of money. Right now we don't have enough monthly income to meet our outgoings...
we will only get thro this due to the emergency fund we built up while the going was good but even that won't last forever! I will stop receiving even Job seekrs allowance in Nov if I don't have a job by then so all in all our finances are decidedly tricky currently:eek:
She is also looking to get married within weeks of my other sis which is causing issues - and is also selfish as my other sis booked the date a year ago and will be barely back from honeymoon before being expected to rush off to another country with passports they don't have, with money they have not got and with time off for her new hubby that he will struggle to get so soon after his honeymoon  To crown it all she missed her off the email telling us all about it :rotfl::eek:Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
