Well thanks guys on the lovely welcome I got this morning reading all your messages! Not spoken to the agency yet - the ball is in their court as I don't have their number. I suggested we speak after 10am today

BZ - I have plenty of things you could give DD if that helps...

Well I have been naughty and did a top up grocery shop last night - not because we'd run out of food but because I didn't fancy what I already had - oops. Need to try and claim it out of next week's grocery money LOL

I did my 2.5 mile walk no problem today - was really pleased with myself - hope the weather stays fine tomorrow as if it does I will walk into town with DS and we are planning to have a drink at Costa! he wants some attention!!! Cheaper than going to the pub as we always end up having a pudding at the pub and not just a soft drink!

I need to do more housework.... my house is deteriorating again. Walking is fine but it obviously extends the time I'm out the house... that is my excuse and I am sticking to it!

hope you all have a great Friday!

2.5 mile walk- impressive! I'm sure mine are nowhere near that.
Although they take lots of time I find they help to declutter the head! Maybe that makes it easier to declutter the house in less time!!

I really enjoyed my walk yesterday and today - but it was about 12 degrees out which is a comfortable temperature for walking!:j

Well amazingly monday's job have provisionally agreed to a Friday lunchtime :jearly finish - it will knock quite a bit off my take home  but compared to earning nothing it has got to be better! I wouldn't take it at full time hours as with the journey I think I would end up ill! :o

I still need to pass a second interview and have a factory tour on Monday coming but who knows... I might actually get this job:rolleyes:. I am the only one who has been invited back to the next stage. The manager sounds really keen. I knew the right time to ask about hours of work was at this point rather than later. I think the fact that I was prepared to walk away if I didn't get it has made my position stronger....

I think potential start dates would be half term week or the week after for approx 10 months. That would hopefully get us thro the worst of the recession....

The company I would be working for us is relatively big and national - so if it did work out okay there may be a possibility of other work at other sites after the maternity cover job had ended.

We have been worrying too whether if I got a job far away (like this one) whether we would need to get a second car - partly as after school club is quite a distance away. However recently the school itself has set up an after school club on its premises (0.6miles away) 3 days a week - so that would potentially take the pressure off there. :j It would also mean that DD was less tired - as the other site is at least a mile away from school! It means DD would only have to go to the one further away 1 night a week so hopefully we can manage around that one.

It is also 50p cheaper at night than the one she went to before. Potentially saving 1.50 a week or £6 a month but they all add up :j With finishing at Friday lunchtime, we wouldn't need afterschool club on a Friday at all which will be good - and save £8 a week anyway. The school now runs a breakfast club - which would cost us £4.50 when we use it. However this new breakfast and after school club are run on a drop in basis ie if you don't use the service you don't pay for it. :beer:That will be a major saving over the year.

I had to give a month's notice in theory at the other one so ended up paying several hundred pounds for a service I didn't need at the start of the summer when one of my jobs stopped abruptly.

I just want money coming back in again - taking the pressure off - and allowing us to clear our debts. I also don't want a massive gap on my CV:o Oh well here's hoping for the right result Monday - whatever that is:confused:

Well another quick update - I spoke to the agency about the day rate role - and he wants me to get my full cv across quickly. If I got that job it would blow this other one out of the water as even tho it is potentially for a shorter period it is such good money!

Need to relook at my CV to see what I can re-emphasise re the specialism they are looking for! Exciting! (Oh and a great excuse to dump the housework I was about to do !!! LOL)

Great news on both jobs- I'm sure everything will work out. Hopefully this should mean you get some money coming in for a while and as you say hopefully things will have picked up by the time you need to job hunt again.

    Thanks Jellie

Took me an hour to write the cover letter for my CV and tailor it to the role. Just hope it works - would be a real step in the right direction if it did!

Well did another 1.2 miles collecting kids from school - so I am now at 3.6 miles walked for the day. Pleased with that.

An agency person asked to join my linked in network - so said yes - and asked if they had any jobs for me... Turns out they might so they are going to ring me again next week.... Things seem to be looking up again but then in my experience most of the vacancies seem to all hapen at once...

I have started cooking tea - planning a nice beef and sausage stew.... I followed mumtoone's direction and have sealed the meat and veg before cooking so hoping it will be nice and tasty!

Hope so! Think it would be so much better than the factory job. The factory tour seems like a bit of a waste of time too tbh...

The stew was gorgeous. Basically I took:
    • about 340g stewing beef (£3), and a pack of 12 chipolata sausages (£1.70ish - 3 packs for £5 in Asda) - that I halved (in line with mumtoone's suggestion!) - I lightly fried them in canola oil to seal in the flavour
    • I then lightly fried (frozen) handful or so mushrooms (less than a £1 per pack), 2-3 smartprice onions, (frozen) handful or so of green beans and 3 leaks before adding them to the casserole (about 6 for £1)
    • I then added some gravy, water and tomato sauce and low salt - and cooked!
    • Hence we ended up eating the sausages tonight - they floated to the top when they were cooked LOL and will eat the other half with the stewing steak tomorrow. It is absolutely gorgeous!
You did mean that kind of share didn't you BZ?:rotfl:2 days meals for about £6 max for 4 people! Not bad going hey! Jamie Oliver eat you heart out!
