You are doing amazing making the cash eek out...here it just goes EEK
Got a good toothfairy story you may like - always expalins why I never ever spent time with the other parents at SB school.
When he was about 7 he lost a tooth. Nothing unusual as he'd been losing a lot in quite a short spell. Normal routine was pop it under the pillow, toothfairy would come and he'd be £1 richer. fly in the ointment was he didn't tell me he'd lost the latest wobbly tooth and simply put it under the pillow expecting toothfairy dosh.
Next morning he comes into my room, very upset that the toothfairy hadn't been. I told him not to worry, there had been a newspaper article yesterday about delays with the toothfairy due to current demand and they'd printed a help line number for mum's to call. (I know I'm never going to Heaven :A).
He was delighted and next morning toothfairy service was resumed. On return from school I asked him how his day had been. Great, says he, I told the teacher I had an important announcement and stood up and explained the whole toothfairy situation to the class and told them about the helpline mum's could call to sort things out.:A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Hi kiss jen
You are always so bright and cheery. Yeah my DD has done that before now - and then not got her money. I said the tooth fairy couldn't find it if she didn't know where it was. I tell her we have to put it in a little purse so it doesn't get lost.... LOL
Yes finally starting to learn how little money it is possible to live on.... Altho we are still far from perfect!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

hi Claire, Jellie, other posters and lurkers!:hello:
Well we have had a nice day. Sang at church this morning -sounded ok. Had chilli and rice that I cooked last night - for dinner today and then we went as a family to a national trust property for a walk around a deer park. Was really nice. Did get sucked into kid's icecreams and then a hot drink and cake for me and OH but still a good day.
My Asda delivery is coming tonight £66 hopefully to last the week including packed lunches.
My DS and a friend want to go to a church youth group meet tonight - I am pleased they are being more social but must admit I could do without the faff and mileage of taking them.
One of my sister's has hurt herself so I need to go and help her tomorrow - I will still go to my interview but it means my DD can't now go to her nan's for tea which is a bit of a shame. DD cried when she found out but seems to have got over it again now.
For some reason I feel really, really stressed today. Not sure why. Don't know whether it is PMT, stress about tomorrow's interview, stress about money in general or what. I did really struggle to sleep last night but to be fair that was my own fault for getting up so late yesterday. That won't be helping though. I think some of it was a feeling of being double booked - both today and tomorrow. It is hard to go from fairly empty days to lots of things happening in one!:o To cope with being off work I have to slow my brain down but then it is hard to adjust to going faster again...
The problem with tomorrow's job is that it is such a long way away. :eek:I think it will probably take an hour and half each way every day (more if there are accidents on the motorway) which on top of a long, tiring and intense work day could just prove too much. I could just hold out for something better, more local - but what if nothing else comes up? I am trying to reserve judgment until I have tried the journey so I will let you know what I think tomorrow....
Hope you have all had good daysAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I know what you mean about the journey to work. I work in social care as a support work and the days can be really stressful and unexpected things do happen on a regular basis that means I just want to get home afterwards as soon as possible. With a job that I may be going to full time (long story already talked it to death in my page lol) 2 hours travel away and 2 hours home again Its worth it if you like the job though. 0 Its worth it if you like the job though. 0

Thanks Claire - I am worried about the journey. I don't like doing a lot of driving and as well as the time, it will cost me at least £40 a week in diesel to get there.... On top of that I would be paying £40 a week after school club - plus breakfast club - probably at around £20 a week. Working can end up being a really expensive business.... So potentially could cost £400-500 a month :eek:just to be able to go to work and pay for childcare!
DD who is 6 would potentially have to be in childcare 8am to 6pm :eek:so OH can do the pick up and drop off. We might need to buy a second car - as a motorbike is not that useful a) in winter and b) to pick up small girls!!
I think I would need to be quite sure that this was the right place for me for me to be able to go for it.... I don't know how flexible they would be on hours of work but if I could leave sometimes at say 4.30pm that would mean I might be able to get back in time to pick up DD.... As I say a lot to think about....Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
