Any ideas how you would attach handles?0

Love the idea of rag bags, especially with my megga stock of fabrics.
I was thinking along the lines of rug canvas and using a large crochet hook to thread through??
No? maybe not!!!!!0 -
I would imagine stitch it on with thick thread or more materialAny ideas how you would attach handles?

I think the thing is with these is just have a go! There's so many different styles around. You could knit handles from the same fabric and sew them on, you could get round handles and cover them with ribbon to coordinate, you could get plastic handles and just attach them with a small bit of fabric, it would all depend what kind of look you wanted.
Rose, sorry hun, still haven't been back to hobbycraft, hopefully tomorrow
Rug canvas could work, is it quite hard though? Never worked with it."The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too."- Samuel Butler0 -
no expert at giving knitting instructions
and this below is a piece of scrap fabric
I had and whilst doing this I have ran out
but I think it will give you an idea
on mine there are 20 stitches, knit 6 stitches,
cast off 8 stitches knit remaining 6 stitches
new row knit 6 stitches cast on 8 stitches
knit remaining 6 stiches next row you now have
20 stitches do a few rows and cast off the
lot you have a hole large enough to put your
hand through.Unfortunatly I ran out of fabric
so could not finish off but hopefully this will
give you a reasonable idea of how it will look
click on pics to enlarge

you could also plait 3 or 4 pieces
of rags about 17/20 inches long
as handles and push the ends through
and either knot them or sew them to the bag.

If you are thinking of making a bag from plastic bags please remember that the majority of bags we have now are biodegradable which means that in six months or so they will start to turn into confetti - now ask me how I know this:oTrue wealth lies in contentment - not cash. Dollydaydream 20060

I would like to make a bag for my sister as she loves hand bags. I want something quite unusual but practical and was wondering if any of you lovely people had come across anything or have any ideas?*~* My life is a little mystery that I am still trying to solve*~*0

For Christmas last year, I bought an inexpensive calico shopper bag from a craft store and transferred photos to it using that Dylon Image Maker picture-transfer-glue stuff (http://www.fredaldous.co.uk/shop-online/dylon-image-maker.htm) for a friend of mine. It was easy to do, and looked great.0
