That looks tons better than mine, think you might be right, the back of yours showing looks good because it is so dark. :T

Is it really chunky? Will you line it do you think?

I only had the one metre of fabric
I bought this fabric a couple of years back
the first 2.5 metres was fine the last metre
was all mis printed and rubbishy. It was an
odment bundle I picked up for a couple
of pounds used the good bit but had this
last metre under a load of stuff.
I used the full metre doing just this bit by my
reckoning its going to take around 4 or 5 metres
to make a bag.I dont have enough to do any more
but I reckon if I am out and about and spot some
cheap and chearful stuff I would give it a go.

I have just bought some amazing fabric
from the States on etsy. How cool is this..........

I am going to make myself a bag
    fancied either dotty check fabric
to line it in black with red or white
dots of check just going to see what
looks best, cant wait for it to arrive.

sethsgran that etsy site has some lovely things on it
its all craft sellers they make some amazing
things.that fabric I bought, over here its a
really expensive one and you seldom ever
saw it anywhere.I bought a yard of it which
including airmail post is still well under the UK
price. Its a shame as they dont make it any more
so when ever it turns up its really expensive

The knitted fabric bags look quite effective
and the good thing is where normaly you would
be looking for pretty fabric, its kind of a different
criteria its more an overall shade.Which means that
the mis printed ,seconds types of fabrics will be
good enough which will make them very cheap to
    make.

goodfairy one thing I was going to ask you
and I would try this myself but the largest needle
size I have here is a 10mm.Do you remember the
    old knitting patterns where they
used a large very thick needle and a thin one
and knitted one row with the large needle and
the next row with the thin one and so on etc.
you would knit this in all pearl stitch or or knit
a row pearl a row.The effect was to make this knit
up quick but at the same time it made it very stretchy
so it would be perfect for making bags.Do you think
this would work knitting it up in rags ?

  • I looked at the knitting needles yesterday and was unsure what size to get, Ive got 15mm ones I used to make a scarf on. Im wanting to try and make my bag exactly the same as the pic I posted on page 1 of this thread. I need to get some little handles and ribbon. Im planning on lining the inside with some sweet pink and white polka dot fabric.
