    Whats a jellyroll?????

Moda release collections of fabrics, a jellyroll is a pack of 40 (I think) strips of all the fabrics in the collection. They are usually aimed at quilters, it's a nice way to have bits of a lot of coordinating fabrics. I used to buy them when I quilted, no time for quilting these days :( I'll try knitting some later or crochet and I'll show you how they look.

This is the one I thought you'd like poppy, it's called A Little Romance.....

Might be an expensive way to make the bags, if you don't already have them though :(

Oh, what a lovely idea :) I often buy the charm packs for quilting but I've never seen anything like that. Did a quick google search and they've got some beautiful packs. Must resist ...

Like the idea of the gift bags savvy but don't have a sewing machine:confused:
No nor do I, but in that article it said it took glue really well, and I reckon you could also handstitch them, perhaps with blanket stitch.

Can handstitch fairly well..............did my curtains ok and they haven't fallen down so might have a go. Bit daunting preparing the bags though..........that looks like a long job..............still, worth a go I think.

Well I've just had a play.....

I cut some fat quarters into 2" strips
    strips.jpg

Used the machine to sew the strips together, didn't want to worry about hems so I just overlapped them

    The ball, ready to knit

Used size 20mm needles, a simple stocking stitch, after a few rows....

I stopped there, it annoyed me too much lol the fabric twisted as I knit it, so only make a small ball! And I think 1" strips would have been better

Sorry the picture are so huge! On reflection, I think I should have ironed the strips in half lengthways, so the pattern side was always on top, but that seems like a lot of work!

Yes........quite mad savvy but thats not the reason I did them...........I got some from the charity shop and the curtain tape was wrong sort for my curtain rail hooks .........had some more hoarded away that was right so unpicked one lot and put the other on. (These were beige lining curtains) Then I got some voile panels with terracotta/brown/coffee colour sections on (smallish ones) and stitched one on each curtain. Took me an age......so no, don't fancy doing any more..................lol It was a case of 'needs must' if I wanted curtains in computer room/den.................lol

Good Fairy - oh you are clever............and so patient ! I doubt I'd have got that far.
I remember some years ago cutting up strips of fabric and plaiting them together and making them into circular table mats, stitching all round as I went - and I even did a rug ????
    Oh those were the days........................lol
