sent off my child benefit and child tax credit forms earlier this week...
did wonder how the tax credits would work as when you do the online calculator you can tell them if this years earnings are going to be a lot less than last year, but you dont get that option on the actual forms... my earnings are down to £0 now...
got to reapply for income support... didnt get the supporting bits, bank statements etc, into them in time - aparantly giving birth isnt excuse enough... but hey-ho... will finish those forms and send them off tomorrow, with the bits and hope for the best...:male:Alfie Sidney born 29th August 2009:male:0 -
Wait until you get your award notices for tax credits and then ring up and ask them to change the income for the current year (09/10) if it will make a difference. The award notices will state what income has been used and will also ask you to contact them if your income goes above or below £xxxx.
Are you actually working at the moment???? I only ask because you said you were doing childminding courses.
Any probs? let me know

nope not working atm... passed my childminding course, just got to have Ofsted inspect and should be able to start in new year ( not til Alfie is sleeping through as i wouldnt want other children in my care if i wasnt 100%... does that make sense?)
applying for income support... mainly for the mortgage rescue scheme, while ex is not working and not paying his way i cant afford mortgage and bills on my own...
i think i read somewhere that childminders can work more than 16 hours and stay on IS... but i couldnt find any info on how many hours extra...?!:male:Alfie Sidney born 29th August 2009:male:0 -
I'm so happy for you Fitz, Alfie was born the day before my birthday! I hope everything works out for you hun.

Not sure about the IS and working for over 16 hours a week as it's not my area but leave it with me and I'll do some research for you. The only thing with that is that your income from the childminding may take you over the threshold but I'll check it out for you and report back.
IS do pay the mortgage interest which you will not get on tax credits so that is something to consider carefully.

hi, not been online much for a while, just learning the ropes... a baby seems a lot more work when you are on your own... mum has done a few shifts but now has two weeks off...
not been a great week.... my grandad (mums dad) was taken into hospital and has gone downhill fast... went in with heart failure, found he had kidney failure and then developed pneumonia this weekend, had dialysis last night but nothing has worked.
went to visit last night as were told he was touch and go, this morning my mum has gone back with her siblings, they've decided to stop treatment and let him go... he's on morphine and its just a waiting game now... his bidy is too tired and i think its for the best, its just not a great experience. just glad my nan didnt want us there....
on the plus side alfie is still gaining weight and is starting to sleep longer during the night - most nights he does 5 hours, then 3.. which is lovely! hes sooo close to smiling... cant wait for that!!!:male:Alfie Sidney born 29th August 2009:male:0 -
I've spent practically all night reading your thread and I think you are completely amazing. Best wishes to you and your family.0

I'm another lurker from the beginning! Just had to check out Alfies piccies too,and it would feel rude not to say so,and to say well done he's gorgeous!Congratulations.
oh and so sorry about your Grandad taking a turn for the worst. It's sad and strange though,as since being a child I have noticed in my extended family, that births and deaths seem to come in close time scale, almost as though the old ones are making way for the new.x0 -
So sorry about your Grandad, but I believe he will be Alfie's guardian angel for ever.
It's true what Peakma says, births and deaths do often follow. My lovely Dad died 2 years ago now. Before he went, we asked him if he would try and send my daughter a baby (she'd be trying to conceive for 5 years) and, sure enough, my gorgeous Grandson appeared just a year later.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
he's still hanging on... but is comfortable and happier now his arm is being constantly squeezed by the blood pressure cuff...
the birth and death link could be true... my great grandad died when his grandaughter's baby was 5 weeks old and Alfie is 5 weeks tomorrow...:male:Alfie Sidney born 29th August 2009:male:0
