OS Daily Thur 19th March 09

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 19th. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.

Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Morning. Another nice day on the cards. It was great yesterday with Sunshine and 62f. Bit of a frost this morning, but then a nice day forcast.
Managed a few jobs yesterday. Serviced the lawn mower, planted some seeds in the green house and finished digging the garden over. Moved the leeks I had started last year in the hope they wont go to seed.
I then had a school governors meeting. So long day.

Day off again, so another day of garden action followed by a BBQ I think.
I will dust off the gas BBQ and give it a fire up.

Docs first thing. I have to give a blood sample, so they don't want me to to eat or drink. No coffee till after 9am. Don't know if I will make it.

Well, folks have a nice day.
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

Keep that 9am in your mind for your coffee N9eav...you can do it :D.
    Morning everyone.
have been awake since 5am when I woke with a start to what I thought was a child whimpering ('kids' (22) and (24) live 500 miles away and stepkids not here at moment)- turned out to be DH making strange noises through his nose. Got a dig in the ribs but I couldn't get back to sleep.
Lovely bright morning here. Plans include getting ready for work in a mo. Then going to work and working :p
Tea tonight is turkey and veg soup and then sliced turkey in with a salad. Might have a jog at the common again. We started last night so it's the start of the healthy living campaign.
Other plans include thinking about things that need to be done to have a spring clean of the house. Some more decluttering needs to be tackled and I have a feeling that will include the loft this weekend. Also need to think about putting some grass seed and nutrient on dog attacked lawn.
Hope everyone has a good day. Will have a look back through the thread as haven't been on much this week.

  • Morning OS friends! hi.gif

    Another lovely sunny day here!
hapbirth.gifMudgekin - hope you have a great day.
    Morning N9eave and wmf!
Jackie - what a lovely mum you are!
Squiggles - hugs to you hon
Smokey - still thinking of you

My OH bought me home a prezzie yesterday - the first issue of a magazine called 'Plant it, grow it, eat it'. We won't be buying any others but this came with great little free gifts - tomato seeds, a little tin, a great laminated plot planner with stickers so you can plan your garden (and play!) plus a soil testing thingummy. Well worth the 99p and the mags were a good read too.

Have a couple of hours baking ahead of me - cheese straws, coffee sponge cake and some more ginger hobnobs for my OH as he has been pining for them!

Marks and Spencers have a special deal for the Mothers Day weekend - £15 and it is supposed to feed four. Link HERE you can see what is on offer. I have a £10 voucher so sending the OH over later to pick something up for the weekend. We find that the normal offer for two does us two meals so we will see how much bigger the meals for four are. It's nice to treat yourself now and again!

Warm gentle hugs to all who need or want them - be good to yourself today. hugs.gif

Oooh I had to cope with that the other day, it was awful :D I'll be thinking of you at 9am, glugging coffee down like there's no tomorrow :D Actually you should all feel sorry for me, doc told me to give up caffeine and I don't like decaf coffee  Decaf tea tastes OK though. OH NO, there's caffeine in chocolate, isn't there?

It's very misty here at the mo, I might go for a walk. I've had to rearrange my day, my dad's having a knee op today (I thought it was next week ) so I want to make sure I'm in by lunchtime. Mum is ringing sometime after 12.30 to let me know how he got on and how soon I can see him (he gets sick after an anaesthetic and he doesn't like people to see him like that :D ).

I have a few things to do in the garden so I'll be out there later. Must remember to take the phone down to the greenhouse with me :D

Thank you, thank you, he'll be fine :D He was hit by a car when he was 17 and had pins put in his leg, his leg healed well but he's had knee problems ever since. He's had a few ops, take a bit of cartilage out here, a bit out there  Trouble is, he's always on the go and my mum is going to have a fight on her hands just to get him to follow doctor's orders. I guarantee he'll be back to work too early and refuse to go home. The boss will insist he stays in the office sorting out plans etc. with his leg up on a chair and he'll moan about that too (he's a carpenter)

This time, he's having a knee replacement so he has to stay in hospital for 5 days. With the other ops, he's home the next day. So he'll probably be moaning that he's bored :D
