Completely off topic again but how old do you think a child should be to be able to go to the shop on there own?
Our local netto is 5 min walk away with no roads to cross.
Bit of a running argument in this house at the moment just wondered what everyone else thought?
Mine are still under 5, but my Mum always says they need help crossing the road til they're 10 - so maybe 10?
I'm still slightly paranoid after the Maddie case, so don't know...probably 25 and married!0 -
Good Evening folks, foul day at work lots of shifting of fixtures & fittings getting covered in dust and bruises . . . .
Anyways 68p to various pots . . . have now acquired a new sealed pot for my 50ps. My mother bought one and has chickened out of using it so she gave it me . . . gotta love a freebie !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DFW NERD# 1175Proud Member of Sealed Pot Challenge #5 ~ 1479 cashless_wonder~*DEBT FREE & LOVING IT*~0 -

If the OD costs less in interest than the Card then I think you win in the long run by using it to offset the card then pay back the OD ?? I just tell the lads in work to focus on the money they're saving but they just argue that they end up spending more on the beer :rotfl::rotfl:
It's an HSBC OD so I think I just get charged a % of interest. Last month I got charged something like 32p so I'm thinking just to go for it. The CCs 0% interest BUT I've got a £3.5k Virgin on the ridiculous card balance I need to BT somewhere and Barclaycard are doing a low LOTB on transfers - tempted! I'm being chargd 34.9% interest in my Virgin CC so is it worth doing (any ANY of that makes sense!)? :rotfl::rotfl::j (2013) :j* Virgin Atlantic [STRIKE]£2,837.01[/STRIKE] £2,835* B'card [STRIKE]£851.51[/STRIKE] £850 * Egg [strike]£5,608.83[/strike] £5,608.83 * Mint [STRIKE]£816.13[/STRIKE] £770 *0 -

Well i originally said 11 but at just one month after being 11 he will have to walk a mile on his own to school . so that sort of contradicts myself mmmmmm...
Think I'm going to say this time next year ( hes 10 this august btw, lol), though as a compromise i think 'll try letting him go with his older and very sensible friend who's 13 before tea time.
It's not him he's very sensible but it's a scary world out there!Total Debt 10/5/2009, £2189.10, 1/6/09 £1420.75

I let my DS go out to the park behind our house by himself if I know his friends are going to be there, but I wouldnt let him go by himself - he is 8. He keeps talking about going to school by himself, which is a 5 minute walk down a straight road, but im not really comfortable with that yet.Moving on up

I do let him walk home from school on his own but it is quite literally on the same street, and he can go to the park next to the school to play football but only if there is a group and on a time limit of 30 mins a time .
I might add that i'm one of those mums who would rather keep him and his younger brother locked up till they turn 25 but my partner is of an opposing view.Total Debt 10/5/2009, £2189.10, 1/6/09 £1420.75
