If you can be bothered, the key to this could be putting your issues in writing, post it to them, and keep a copy. Even if you have no reason for complaint on medical grounds, your grivance(s) will then be on the system and may prevent a repeat.
Also, even if they don't take a damned bit of notice, making the effort might make you feel a bit better about the situation.
I have done this before when I had a big illness some years ago. I stated that if I had to see a particular consultant (whose reputation preceded him) I would prefer to go to another area for my treatment. They assigned another consultant.
Although they would never have admitted it publicly, privately I was thanked for my letter by a staff member because there had been a lot of grumbles about the person but no-one had ever put it in writing before.

Thanks for all your messages of support!

I really want to write but I think when I get going I'll rant and rave and that's not what I want to do...Maybe I should make some tea and chill out before I do it. I didn't know if it would be a good idea as I don't want anyone to think I'm just complaining over nothing but thank you for telling me about your experience cause now I'm do it...and if they hate me then I'm gonna blame you!! I'm not an over-protective parent or one of those people who wanted whale miusic and candles...I just want to have my bubba and leave..not much to ask really!!

I did ask about switching hospitals as I was really annoyed at my midwife but she said 'well maybe you should' but seeing as it's over an hour away that statement kinda backfired on me! :rotfl:

I do think that one woman in paticular was really unprofessional (I called her sausage fingers - won't go into the reason why :p) but I ended up calling her a cow and told other members of staff to keep her away from me - I wouldn't normally treat anyone in the medical profession with dis-respect but I really wanted to rip her eyes out!!

And another thing, I'm convinced that they damaged my back from forcing me to lie down for 8 hours - all of you mum's on here will know that's not the best thing to do when you're in labour! My contractions were in my back and not in my tummy as I would have expected so all I could feel was a red hot poker tearing through my back the whole time I was lying down - When I refused to lie down anymore I was allowed to stand up for about 5 mins but it was 5 mins of sheer bliss!!

Anyway, sorry for having another rant - I need to tell someone though as OH is sick of listening to me!!

Angelicmary your birth experience sounds horrible-midwifes norm encourage you to stand up and keep moving as gravity helps to push baby down and make labour a bit quicker.I was offered all pain relief (thank god!).My midwife/hospital seems like heaven in comparison and you really shouldn't have to put up with that level of rudeness etc.I'm sure you are perfectly entitled to insist on your home birth so long as there are no complications ie high blood pressure.I'm all Grrrr for you huni x

Ps I'm not expecting again just yet but we are thinking of trying for baby no 2!

Just catching up Mary and I am disgusted! I can't believe you were forced to lie down!!! My midwife was 'do whatever makes you feel best' and I only laid down when they decided he wasn't coming out with a little help.
I am totally with Paul, you should definately record a greivance of some kind!

Hello all, thank you for all your congrats messages,I love the name 'Mr Twinkles' and will tell him when he gets home.lol.
We went for a little trip to Mr T's for a few bits earlier.Sds peculiar but I felt like a proper 'grown up' family-which is silly as we are married, have dd but I was squeezing hubbys hand walking along saying 'we got here all by ourselves!'
My pad today is £5.00.Take care everyone xx

The thought of going back there is giving me high blood pressure!! haha!

I can't insist on home birth cause they won't 'give' me a midwife as (and I quote) - 'it would be unfair of you to expect a midwife to be on call for you 24hours a day and as we are 33% understaffed - you have the government to thank for that'

Congrats on thinking about trying for another - I'm getting my congrats in before anyone else can! Mention home births and see what kind of reaction you have - I'd be interested to find out if it's a gereric feeling amongst midwives or just mine being a b***h!!! x

EDIT - Sarah got in there first with her congrats!!

I think urs in being a b***h actually.'cos they asked when I was pregnant with my dd if I wanted a home birth. As it turns out I have too high blood pressure so it will never be an option.Oh yer,and I love epidurals and lots and lots of painrelief 'cos I'm a wuss!A quiet wuss though.I tend to retreat and say sorry a lot:confused:

I was very quiet and let them 'do their job' but the closer this birth gets the more I'm realising they weren't doing their jobs properly and apart from calling sausage fingers a cow, I really didn't say very much else!
The midwife that was in the room with me didn't even believe I needed to push, it took another midwife to come in from next door and tell her the baby was comimg and that caused baby's heartbeat to drop as she was in distress cause I couldn't get her out - oh my god what the hell am i doing going back there???
