Had a bad couple of days  Decided not to go to WI and had it as a holiday. Back on track tomorrow and have a week to lose some before next weigh in. Feel ill after eating badly so at least I'm looking forward to being good tomorrow. I'll keep reading this thread to stay on track.
  • Hi there, I missed WI yesterday as I was travelling home after the weekend, but I will go on Wednesday. I had a disastrous weekend foodwise, staying in a house full of puddings, icecream, biscuits cake and chocolate. I am back in control now and all set for a loss (next Monday, ha ha!)

I had a nice tea. It fits in well with Angie’s Indian theme week as well! It’s based on the Red Split Lentils Cooked in a Pan recipe on the Good Food website.

Serves 2 (generously), free on green

125g mung beans (can soak these and boil them or just use a tin (235g drained) like I do)
    125g red split lentils, washed
    1 tsp turmeric
    Frylight
    1 onion, chopped very finely
1 garlic clove, chopped very finely
    1 tin chopped tomatoes
1 tsp grated root ginger (I put a bit more in as I like ginger)
    1 green chilli, finely chopped
    ½ tsp garam masala
A handful of coriander, chopped very finely
    2 red chillies

    Serve with rice
    • Put the mung beans and lentils in a large saucepan and ¾ fill with boiling water. Season and bring to the boil then reduce the heat to a simmer. Using a slotted spoon, skim any scum off the surface.
    • Add the turmeric and stir well. Partly cover and simmer for about 30 minutes until tender, adding more boiling water if it starts to become too dry – it should be even-textured.
    • Spray a frying pan with frylight and add the onion. After about a minute, add the garlic. (I use a lid on the pan, and maybe a splash of water to stop it burning.) When lightly golden add the tomato, ginger and chilli. Fry until it is a shiny, dry paste. Pour into the pan with the dhal (lentil mixture) and mix well. Stir in the garam masala. Top with coriander and red chillies.

That sounds wonderful - thanks for sharing it - I shall print it out now before I lose it
  • I gained 1/2 lb tonight - could have been a whole lot worse :o

I am staying focused and determined for a loss next week - I have decided to try to work a minimum of 5 speed foods into my daily indian menu's ...

:T:T Just had to say that I agree with this completely - so much so, I have just sold mine on ebay. dreadful book (and tidy profit too :money:)

... out of the proceeds though, I did splash out on a copy of the new one. I wonder if that will be gracing ebay soon too (only time will tell)

I bought my new 2009 one off eBay last night - quite surprised at the cost considering it's brand new out. Got it for less than than I got the last one in June!

My old one is battered - always goes to the supermarket in the bottom of the shopping bag. I've always got on well with it. Baffling at first, but once you get to grips with how it's categorised, it's easy. I wouldn't be without it! It's kept me right this far! :T

The Shape Lasting satisfaction are really creamy, really fruity, damned well gorgeous and FREE!

I can't bear the Weight Watchers ones - far too watery, nothing like a yogurt!

They sound delicious 4li5on, but I don't live in the UK so they just aren't available. the weight watchers one are the best of a bad bunch really. I can get Danone brand but they are called activa so don't know how it related to the lasting satisfaction.
I generally just use the sins calculator for most things. In fact the range of low fat, or light 'diet' options is rubbish here, especially for dairy and I can't even get slimline tonic for my gin!

Morning all, I havnt posted in a few weeks or stuck to SW for a few weeks either. I had started a new job and was just so knackered after getting in, getting kids fed, bathed and bed, I was opting for a pizza and even the odd tub of Ben & Jerrys Half baked (yes the whole tub AFTER the pizza )
So not suprisingly ive gained about 7lb since my last WI.
Im off work for the Easter hols but would like to start back on plan properly now rather than wait til i go back, I also want to get organised and batch cook for the freezer so ive no excuse.
Ive held off and just bought the new mag last night, i had a wee read and it has motivated me to get back on it.
I have a busy week of socialising coming up in May, I have 2 Morrissey concerts on the 7th and 8th than an all day hen night which involves meeting for cocktails in the afternoon then curry karaoke later on. I would lose to lose at least the 7lbs I have gained to get back to where I was. I still had another 7lb to go to get to target, but I actually felt quite good at 10st 7lb, so Ill aim for that just now. Nearly all the girls on the hen night and my friends at the concerts havnt seen me in ages, they are all skinny, so I want to look good
I plan to eat loads of superfree and superspeed foods, have loads of free BBQ's so I can have more red days.
I have to do it this time as I also have 3 weddings to go to this summer, one of which im a bridesmaid. Im fed up feeling frumpy and down about my weight, I want to look as good as all the other girls on the hen night and the weddings.
Sorry for the long post just spouting how I feel at this moment in time.

Great, I'll have a search for the 0% next time I'm in the supermarket.

Today I'm having a green day:

B: Scrambled egg with a slice of white bread (no WM in) 3.5 sins.
L: Salad with sweetcorn, kidney beans peppers.
D: Chicken curry (HEB), khichri (peas and rice thing in SW recipe book) rice, VLF yogurt, maybe I'll do a Dahl too. Fruit for dessert.

Snacks: banana, yogurts, lots of water!
    HEA: skim milk.

I need another HEB so will look through the list and see what suits.
