    hi guys and gals,

Advice please. I've bought a half leg of lamb for a roast tomorrow. Never cooked lamb before so what do I do?

    cheers, Ging x

    mmmm love lamb :D

Personally, I chop some garlic (couple of cloves) and some rosemary and mint (cos I have them in the garden) together. either one would be fine without the other, then I spray the meat with a few squirts of frylight, then roll the lamb around in the herb / garlic mix.

preheat the oven to 230/gas8, put in a roasting tin, and roast for 30 mins, then (leaving the meat in the oven) turn down the heat to 180/gas4 and time it for 30 mins to the pound (450g) thereafter (just checked this bit with delia - my roasting queen)

at the end of its time, take it out and let it rest for 15 minutes in the kitchen - it won't go cold!! It neds this to be lovely and juicy and let the meat relax. Lamb is best served very slightly pink - so this resting time ensures the heat is distributed properly and stops it bleeding all over the plate (euch!)

in the meantime you can turn the heat up on your potatoes or start your veg steaming or whatever.

transfer to a carving dish and carve into thin delicate slices, or meaty chunks - whatever flo ts your boat.

I am so proud of myself. No Easter Eggs at all this weekend, no shops open so I can be tempted into buying one either!

Had a wander into Home & Bargain yesterday and they were selling the bags of mini cream eggs - 6 bags for £1. Well this girl could not resist. So far have eaten 3 - mini eggs not bags that is! Must get generous and share them out.

Hi everyone I am back from my hols and looking at my food consumption over the past week my total syns went like this Sun 15.5, Mon 19, Tues 21.5, Wed to many to count :o, thurs 12, Fri 37!!!

Being realistic is this not too bad for someone on holiday who has honestly completed their food diary? Friday was so bad cause we were travelling home and i was unwell and just gave up :o Made up for it yesterday by only having 4 syns :A and filling up on fruits and veggies.

So far today i have avoided the temptation of chocolate - and there is a lot of it in this house - but i will be strong :D Happy Easter to everyone out there :easter:

There is a SW class local to me on a wednesday and im seriously considering going but im not sure how its going to fit in with my daily life - im a nurse and i work 730-6pm 4 days a week so breakfast and lunch is at work.

Any advice appreciated, i want to make it work this time (ive got around 2 stone to lose). Also how do you go about getting a referral from your gp?? I only found out you could do this today.

Not all health authorities fund SW on referral so the best way is to ask at your surgery.

Does your staff canteen not do any salads, jacket potatoes etc? If not, you may be better off taking a packed lunch. Breakfast can be as simple as a couple of Alpen Light bars and there are loads of things that will pack into a lunchbox for your other meal. I eat a lot of pasta salads as you can chop and change what ingredients you add to them - peas, sweetcorn, mushrooms etc, etc.

If your will power gets in the way of success, it's a good idea to write out a 'for' and 'against' list to focus your mind on why you want to slim and what it is that stops you achieving your aims.

There are so many lovely recipes that you can do using free foods that it's sometimes difficult to decide what to do first - you can find a few here:-

I let my mind wander and it never came back!

I find it easier to stick to plan now that I have to take packed lunch in to work. I used to work somewhere which had canteen, the cheapest thing was chips (even cheaper than a banana!). Now I work in an office without a canteen and I've joined SW and really find it so easy.

I have breakfast at home but you can easily taken it with you.

-Cereal weighed out, milk in a carton/bottle
    -Alpen Light bars
-Fruit, individual or as a salad
-Yogurt (muller light is syn free)

    Lunch

    -sandwich
    -hard boiled eggs
    -salad
    -pasta, with dressing or salad
    -rice
    -cold potatoes
    -ryvitas and cottage cheese

There's loads of different choices (I haven't mentioned meat cos I'm veggie so have no idea!), and it just requires a bit of preparation the night before. And invest in a good lunchbox and maybe a cooler bag lunch box thing if you don't have access to a fridge. And maybe some of the picnic plastic bowls/plates/cutelry (sp?) if you're not provided with them at work.

I tend to make a big bowl of salad every other day, then see what's left over from tea to add to it for lunch (pasta/rice/potatoes etc).

With the willpower, I guess only you know how you will do. I have nothing that would tempt me in the house, so no chocolate, crisps, ready meals etc. And the willingness to stick to SW this time is helping too.

    Good luck

I held out all day....didn't touch a single easter egg. I went for 3.5 mile run......:A

Then I realised it was late and went for the large donner and kofte mixed kebab again...leaving the pitta naturally.

Weigh day tomorrow will see if I still made my 1kg this week.
