  • sorry I'm confused - how is the couscous cake misuse of food and the scanbran cake not? is it cos the scan bran in syns/HEB anyway? I thought as long as the couscous was still whole (ie not ground up as flour sub) it would be ok? hope you don't mind me asking :)

    Hi All *waves meekly*

I lost 2 stone on slimming world about ten years ago - and still ate a creme eggg every night!!, and largely kept it off with the help of weight watchers (fluctuated 7lbs up and down) - but now after a long period of eating and in-activity, I've put on over a stone, and need to get it off before it becomes 2 stone. None of my clothes fit and it makes me very sad :( I am still a stone off my heaviest weight though which is a good thing - I never want to be back there.

I am, however, terrified of starting to change my eating habits as when I last "dieted" I ate loads of fibre, which I've since found I can't eat - and also lots of veg which I can't eat as I am intolerant. I feel so much better not eating these foods as it made me quite poorly, but I am scared to start again because of the previous experience (taken me nearly 3 years to get back onto the right road to feel well again). Consequently it is hard for me as I can't eat cereals, brown bread/rice and very few vegetables. I don't think weight watchers is the best for me as it seems either very calorie/point controlled or full of all the foods I can't eat. I think, if slimming world is the same as last time, this could be the way forward for me.

Another issue is I couldn't face going to a meeting. Last time I went to one, I got ridiculed by people because I was "too thin" and "didn't need to lose weight" (I don't have a healthy BMI and am about a size 14, and need to lose a stone, I'm by no means thin - what they meant was "why are you here, you don't have 5 stone to lose" - so I'll definitely not be going to a meeting, when I get in the zone I can stick to things well on my own. However - I need the books - is eBay the only place to get them? If so, which ones do you reccomend?

    Many thaanks in advance.

jamtart welcome , you poor thing .
I would say you must try to go to class to get the much needed help you would need .
I was going to class and moved house two years ago and the new class i went to was really bad , the cosultant wasn't bothered about , checking how i was or even talking to me at class , she now left .
My old consultant was wonderful and made everyone welcome , phoned and gave you feedback on how you were doing and what you could do to change things if you were going wrong .
Our consultant on here is wonderful will alway help too:T:T:T.
I went on the net and found a new class and the consultant is really nice and so is the class .

I only have 10 1/2 lb to loss and i'm a size 10 and you should'nt care what anyone thinks as everyone is different , and everyone has there own ideal weight , life would be boaring if we were all the same .
I had the lady weighing me say the same , look at you , you don't need to loss weight and if i was your size i'd be happy , but i took it as her giving me a compliment and i told her i'm here to get back to target as iv'e put on 12lb and if i don't do something about it i'll put the 2 , 1/2st back on , the class is really nice .
SO jamtart , please go on line and check out other classes in your area and go along and see what you think to that class , if you have already joined a class you can move to another as your now a member , plus you can go onto the slimming world site and get help as a member to

Thats really awful, Jamtart, how you were treated. I think the reason a lot of people are too scared to go to a meeting is the worry that they will be treated like that but you would think nowadays this wouldn't happen. I don't see if it matters whether you need to lose 10 stone or half a stone.

I just want to thank consultant31. Ive received my Extra Easy cookbook today!:T I will have a good look at it in a min with a cuppa. Thanks for going to the trouble of sending it to me.:j

Beachbeth - I know I felt so bad, lots of the members just gave me odd looks and kept on jumping in with "oooh why are you here" and I just wanted to blend quietly into the background. I actually got called "silly girl" by one  but as you say - if you are overweight you are overweight and hopefully by doing something about it when you are one stone overweight is better to catch it before it ends up more out of hand.

thanks olly! :) do we need the food directory as well (with syns - that'll be key :o)
