WI today and have gained 1lb. Not too bad on the face of it, haven't been following plan too closely for past fortnight as lots of pain from RA, also not been able to exercise. I need some motivation so can I join in with the weekly challenge please?
    1. Cook a SW meal you have NEVER had before! Will have a go at 'onion & potato tortilla' from the new mag
    2. Do 15 mins EXTRA exercise in addition to what you normally do! My exercise is pretty prescriptive but will add a few extra mins to my twice a week swim
    3. Buy and eat a piece of fruit you have not had for ages! Will treat myself to a bag of mixed berries for my morning porridge
    4. Add your own personal target for the week here. To follow the extra easy week in the new mag & lose the 1lb gained +++
    Here's hoping!!!

  • Hi gillz83, I've been on SW for 6 months and am 3 lbs away from 2 stone. I am also very muscley and supposedly have another 4 stone to lose before I am at an ideal weight for my height (5'6). I went to 3 months worth of classes but didn't find them overly helpful and have been 'going solo' for the past 3 months. My advice would be to go to class for a couple of weeks to get the info and get a clear idea of the eating plan, and then you should be in a better position to go it alone - saving you about £18 a month. Keep things exciting and varied and you will see the weight come off. Even us muscley girls can lose weight (even though I thought I couldn't for about 10 years!). Just keep going until you feel you've reached a healthy weight for you - I'm thinking a size 12, which will be about 12 stone for me.
Hi everyone, I've read all of your postings and am loving this thread! Any tips/ passwords/ recipes would be greatly appreciated!
    Keep slimming beautiful peeps!

toochoosey I don't like yogurts either, but then I tried the Aldi Optifit they are absolutely gorgeous they were free at one time but unfortunately they are now 2.5, I chop an apple up and mix together.By doing this for my breakfast it stops me having bread (which I adore)

Im thinking of joining sw, the main thing putting me off is cost as Im so skint. Can someone explain the main principles? Another thing is that I do a fair bit of exercise and worry that I wont lose as many lbs as muscle weighs more then fat, am I being silly?

Ok, 1 suare inch of muscle weighs twice that of a square inch of fat. I swam for the county in my younger years and am very muscly from the years and years of competition. I am a size 18 at 15.2 and 5'7 so i go by my dress sizes rather than weight. Working on the age old premise that 10lb is 1 dress size then i will be a size 10 if i lose 40lb which is 12.4 - so my target weight is 12.4. That is at the very highest end of my target range. However, remember that SW let YOU choose your finaly goal. Not the bmi range charts! So if you feel comfortable at 14 stone then that is your goal. If you go 3lb under that you start paying again and possibly re-set your target a little lower.

Start following the plan using the student budget plan on the sw website (cheap cheap lol) and see how you get on. You may think it is worth paying £10 for that first meeting to get all of the literature. I stopped smoking 4 weeks ago YAY so i use some of the saved money to pay for my class!

Good luck and stick around here and you will find amazing support/recipes and money saving ways of slimming!

WOW 39.5 lbs in a year is brilliant - does the theory work - you 'should' have lost 3 dress sizes since starting - is that right?????
