Hi everyone, i'm on my first day of SW and i'm just starting to get my head around everything.

I bought some mullerlights today (the orange and vanilla ones with choccy sprinkles:D) and was thinking about having the magic porridge you were talking about earlier. Am i right in thinking the yoghurt is free and i just use a HE for the porridge? Also i have no idea what scan bran is, and it says you should have that along with the porridge as a HE. So as i don't have it can i just have the porridge on its own and maybe up the amount. Or just stick to 28g and leave it out if that makes sense? TIA x

Scan Bran can be bought in group. It is full of fibre and that it why it is added to the breakfast since the oats etc don't have enough fibre to make up a HEB.

Until you get some Scan Bran, you could have a Ryvita Original/Dark Rye/Sesame instead, though it is marginally higher in syns (4 of these are allowed as a HEB as opposed to 5 SB).

However, you are right in thinking the Muller is free. Only the ones with a layer under (in the chocolate range) have syns.

I often do a similar breakfast on a green day using plain couscous, made up as directed and adding a Muller and chopped fruit. This is totally free on green and leaves me a HEB to have later in the day. Not for everyone perhaps, but I like it and find it very filling.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Hi I also measure mine out in the morning ( I use an old babys bottle, it has a seal and I take it to work with me), I use Semi skimmed and find thats fine for my brekkie and tea and coffee through the day. i make my porridge with water and only add a bit to cook it at the end. The only time I struggle is when I have weatabix as I feel I need more milk. I find it useful to measure it, especially if you have scrambled eggs, pasta n sauce or an ommlette as you can lose track by doing it free hand. If you struggle them maybe you could buy skimmed milk as you get a lot more than semi (350ml instead of 250ml i think) I personnally hate skimmed milk, its like cloudy water lol

    I like skimmed:o
I make my porridge with it.
I think what I need to do is measure out a HEA & 3 syns of milk (skimmed) & that should do me for the day.
An old babys bottle is a great idea;)
I only need a mini one as I use most of the HEA in the morning.
  • Morning all - well I took the plunge and joined a club last night - the consultant explained a whole lot more than I picked up on the website so it was worthit for that alone. My daughter joined with me - she doesn't have much to lose - around a stone, she's just had a baby and wants to get in shape. I have 3.5 stone to lose so we'll see how we get one!

As it is I'm feeling quite bloated from the fruit I've had - I normally don't eat much fruit but if it's free baby then I'm going to!!

    Today is planned as this:

Breakfast: fruit salad and muller light

Lunch: Ham and tomato salad sandwich with another muller light

Dinner: Lamb shanks with baked potato and loads of veggies

I'm doing EE and I think I've checked all the boxes (might need a HEa - if so I'll add a bit of cheese tot he sandwich....does that sound ok??)

I might have a glass of wine tonight 5 syns??

    Hi peeps!

Well, new school year, new me - at least in theory! I have the books, and have done this before, so I know how it works-ish, and I've made my own lists, knowing what I eat (seriously, how many people eat brains?!).

Anyway, I decided it's time for a change. I can't afford to go to a group, and have an 8yo mini-me, so I decided that I could report back on my progress here - if you'll have me :)

If I start to slip, PLEEEEEASE shout at me!!!

I'm off to weigh myself and add it to my sig - psychlogical boost of a midday weigh-in, compared to a morning one! :rotfl:
Oh for Goodness' Sake!! Here we go again :(
Total debt £4,839.51 (Still adding it up though :( )
    Now : £4, 759.81

Hi , that all sounds good for EE. Your right about having a hea, so either a bit of cheese or milk.. I normally have the bigger glass of wine for 6 syns (1/2 a bottle is 12 syns) remember to drink loads of water too
Its good your doing it with your daughter, it definently gives you more of a goal and encouragment. good luck
