Thanks for the tip. I will have a look at teh website. Is there anything that it is worthwhile not buying bearing in mind I am going to class in a couple of weeks? I don't want to double up on something that I am getting as part of a joining pack

You could buy the Food Directory which gives the syn values of many thousands of branded goods as well as a few pages of basics like flour etc.

Any of the cookery books are brilliant IMO but the best one to start you off is the little Delicious Food Optimising Days. This one gives you menus for whole days and is a really good one to learn how to put things together to make meals rather than living off jacket potatoes with beans (for instance).

Buy the magazine too. Again if you know someone who goes to group ask them to get it for you, it'll save you 95p. Either way, it's a good buy and will help you understand the mechanics of the plans.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

They're not sold on the website, you can only get them through the group/if you know someone who goes. or someone selling their second hand stuff, eg ebay. They are v.expensive on ebay though!

Well, to be honest I'm not sure. DD1 was diagnosed when she couldn't get pregnant, They tried to conceive for 5 years, during which time she was advised to lose weight and she succeeded (beautifully). When she went for her 6 monthly fertility-type check-up, she was already 5 months pregnant and, because her periods had been all over the place with the PCOS, she hadn't realised.

She did used to suffer agonising periods, which sometimes lasted a couple of weeks and sometimes didn't appear at all. Since the baby was born (11 months ago now) her periods have regulated themselves and aren't nearly as painful.

The nurse said that the weight loss could have done the trick, but equally the pregnancy could be the reason, so you pays your money and takes your choice it seems - not recommending your DD gets pregnant to see if it works though (unless she wants to of course) :D

Can it really go? Or is it just managed?

My DD has always had awful periods, lasting weeks rather than days. She's been like that since she started 10 years ago & was perscribed the pill to lesson them, but it didn't help much.

It was me that took her down the doctors & suggested she was tested for PCOS.

Makes me wonder has she had it the past 10 years (when shes been having trouble) or the past two when shes put on weight?

My DD has just been diagnosed with PCOS:(

She has gained a lot of weight in the past year or two & has horrendous periods.
She has been prescribed diabetic medication to help with the hormones (shes not diabetic).

She's going to see them tonight about the pill or whatever to help, she's getting her implant removed.

Chin up Jess, your doing the right thing, don't be so down on yourself:grouphug:

Pcos is often treated with a tablet could metoforim , it helps level blood sugarsa and weight gain , im not sure on the ins or outs though , im not allowed it as i have quite low blood sugars already.. they did say though the carbs can have a neg effect on pcos sufferers and that losing weight (if ur overweight with pcos) is the best thing for it , i got diagnosed at age 10 and aged ten very underweight was waddling like a chicken because the pad for me was like a large nappy in a year i gained 3stone and my periods were horrible (still are) i take 2 birth control tablets a night for it yet still bleed so its very frustrating ,
I have been hospitalized twice because of the amount of pain ive been in (worst was with 26 mini cysts on my right ovary.

Its a horrible illness one of which i think is controlled more then cured.. im lucky not to have facial hair with it but i do have to shave legs and underarms each day otherwise i look like a monkey!

are you managing to low carb on slimming world? I thought the two diets were mutually exclusive

by the way, the wii fit is only accurate to half a stone! So you could be up to 7lbs less or more than it says you are!

    Hi all
Well I've been doing really well this week, cant wait to go to class on Thursday, but the usual consultant is on holiday (she's fab!)
Is the magazine out for this month yet?
I have been looking in the last 2 I have for extra inspiration.
I made my HM Kebabs, but had to use chicken as there was no pork bits in Morrissons when I went up.
They were lush, we had it with peppers stuffed with cous cous and topped with melted cheese
I even took a pic lol
We had a Thai red curry last night but OH used a sauce so think that mucked me up a bit :o
Other than that I've been really good, drinking lots more water, and now I have a new fridge freezer with water dispenser I'll be drinking even more, i love my drinks cold you see.
