Does anyone have a low syn cheese sauce receipe that would go well with lasagne. I made one by melting down dairylea triangles with a bit of milk, that worked but is a pain to melt down.

White sauce from my SW saucy secrets book

    4 tsp cornflour
    7fl oz skimmed milk
6 tbsp very low fat fromage frais

whisk cornflour and milk together until smooth. Cook over a low heat and gradually add fromage frais.

The only syns would be the cornflour, which is 1 syn per tsp, so this amount of sauce is 4 syns.

Thanks for the quick reply, does it taste like cheese sauce? As got to convince my DH and kids it is REAL cheese sauce.

smegs, I think it is just a plain white sauce so you need to add some grated mature cheese at the end if you want it to be cheesey. When I make it I use extra mature cheddar, and count it as a healthy extra.

  • Fernliebee - Rowntrees Fruit Pastille Ice Lollys don't seem to be listed but according to their nutritional value they are 3.5 syns each.

    Hope this helps :)

Had a better weekend than last weekend, didn't go out drinking but did end up eating half a Chicago Town Deep Dish Four Cheese Pizza  as I'd been cleaning my house almost all day and at 9pm decided to stop and then was too tired to cook anything SW...very naughty but I'm hoping all the cleaning helped burn off at least some of the syns! :)

    How was everyone elses weekend?

Thanks to Raapunbird and skint catt! :D

Glad they are quite low, I remembered that ice lollies didn't tend to be too bad. Phew!

Had another free day today, but may have some fruit and a sneaky bourbon this eve! :)
  • I love the recipe bits in the magazines, they can be a real refreshing change and give you excellent choices.

I was struggling tonight, didn't want to do potatoes and veg with the meat, so i did eggs and tomatoes, excellent variation and can be done in sooo many ways, to suit me and my oh.

    Love eggs!

I know what you mean Raapunbird, I have had a few days off plan (again) due to wedding at the weekend (and for some reason Friday got caught up in there off plan too - much chocolate for me) but am back on it now.

I thought that using the forum was going to help me be disciplined - you know, if I have to confess that I am not sticking to it, I thought I would feel more embarrassed (if that's the right word). Instead, most weeks I come on here and just freely confess that I have missed the plan in some way.

I need to get a grip, although I am finding it difficult because every week throughout the summer I have a big event, like weddings, festivals etc and I intend to enjoy them all.

Perhaps that's just me prioritsing other things over weight loss and maybe I am not as serious about it as I think I am. So far the only week I have actually lost anything was when I was very strict for the full 7 days, kept my syns to max of 10 a day and most days didnt use both my HEA's and HEB's. That week I felt hungry a LOT (despite eating loads), but saw results.

    This week I will:

    1) Stick to the plan for every day except Saturday (when the main syns will be wine)
    2) Keep daily syns to max of 10
    3) Throw in a couple of original days and see how they go

Phew, long post - sorry about that!

Some girls in my group, join there syns. So for example if they know they have a do on at the weekend, they reduce there syns during the week and then have more syns on the day in question. Not sure i have explained that quite right, but what i am trying to say is that you are aloud 105 syns a week, so some girls in my group may only have 5 syns monday to friday (total of 25) which leaves them 80 syns for the weekend.

I'm not sure you should do this every week but it might give you abit more choice, and also if you are being that good in the week you almost need to treat youself.

It seems to work for them. I haven't yet tried it but its idea.:D
