Just heard a really nice way to do porridge - a bit like magic porridge mentioned way back. Weigh out 100g porridge and add 200g water. Leave overnight and eat in the morning with fruit and yogurt. (The recipe I read said also to add nuts and maple syrup but no, no, no...) Lovely light summery way to eat porridge I thought, and it's really tasty.
4li5on, do you find doing syns on a weekly total works? I'd like to try it but am a bit worried for some reason. Let loose with 105 syns!
It's always worked very well for me. I always keep a very strict food diary and try to roughly plan each days meals before I go to the supermarket. I also keep a note of how many syns per week in my weight record folder so I can refer back at any point.
I usually use most of my syns in my meals, like dressings, meringues and ice cream to go with fresh fruit or the occassional cooking sauce. I also like to do one nice pudding a week, maybe a crumble or cheesecake. I find it easier to stick to and more enjoyable rather than sit and scoff chocolate on an evening.
I suppose it depends on how you approach the plan on an individual basis. Breaking down the 105 might for example work out at M13, T8, W9, Th21, F12, Sa16, Su 19 = 98, so still 7 to spare! 15 a day might not sound much, but over a week it can make a difference. I wouldn't say 'save' syns like people used to do, but going a few over one day and cutting back on a few the next day seems to balance out well for me!0 -

You don't mean 100gms of porridge oats do you? The HEB allowance for p/oats is 28gms.
Skint_Catt you may have already seen these recipes but if not and you're craving Scotch Eggs these might fit the bill:-
Vegetarian Scotch Eggs (syn-free on Green Plan)
4 eggs
1 pack Smash – Buttery or Original flavour
Couscous
Hard boil eggs and let them go cold.
Make Smash up as normal, and leave to go cold.
Shell the eggs, and cover with the Smash then roll in couscous.
Bake in a hot oven gas 8 until golden.
Serve with salad or sin free chips/wedges and baked beans.
Syn free scotch eggs (Syn-free + HEB for bread crumbs on Original plan)
Marks & Spencer Count on Us Pork & Herb Sausages (remove meat from skins) (or Morrison's Eat Smart Pork sausage, 8-pack, chilled)
Hard boiled eggs
57gms bread crumbs (toasted) or Scan Bran, crushed
Shape the sausage meat around the eggs, making sure the egg is covered.
Roll the covered egg in the crumbs until evenly coated.
Bake in pre-heated oven at 180C for about 25 mins.
Use the scan bran as part of a healthy extra b choice for a super free snack, or count 1 syn per 2 crispbread used.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Hi, Try varying your healthy extras, so if you always have bread then maybe try cereal. Also make sure you drink at least 2 litres of water a day. I found I slowed down when I tried EE all the time (way back in Jan) so now I do mainly green at least one red and EE on days I fancy 'real' chilli and rice or a chicken curry and rice. Just keep it varied, you may find youll have a big loss next week.
Thankyou so much for the advice. I planned my week and made sure I didn't have the same heb 2 days in a row. I also varied my breakfasts more. And it worked. I lost 2lb and got slimmer of the week. I was so pleased.
Our consultant has set us all the challenge of writing down everything we eat this week. In detail. Typical as this is only the second weekend I will be going out since I started. But I shall be good the rest of the time so fingers crossed for another 2 next week.0 -

Whooooo hooo I lost 31/2lbs this week which also means I get my club 10 and my 1 n 1/2 stone sticker = 21lbs in total :j
Thought Id share this with you one of the ladies at my club does it as a snack I havent tried as I am not a marmite fan. Cook some pasta then mix some marmite with a little boiled water, drain pasta then cover in the marmite sauce, place in the oven and cook for a while (sorry not sure how long I guess until a little crispy?) they are meant to taste like twiglets - hope that helps some of you?0 -
Morning, how is it going? I had my WI yesterday and didn't do so well, only 1/2lb loss so I didn't get my 2 1/2 stone sticker
. Gutted. Not such a huge surprise since my 5 year old is on school holidays so it's halved the exercise I've been getting and I've been getting too distracted. I've also got four teenage foreign language students to feed/look after so a bit busy! Back to keeping a proper food diary for the next week, I think, to keep closer tabs on it all.
I'm also going to introduce dd to the delights of belly dancing when ds is having his afternoon nap, and maybe even the wii fit.
My goal is to try and get down to a size 16 by the end of the summer holidays which would be fab, but I need to keep to my 2lb a week loss to do it. If I manage it I will be the same size as when I got engaged, 16 years ago. Wish me luck!Slimming World convert, joined 23rd April 2009
