Went to WI tonight and put a 1lb on even though I've done nothing different or ate any junk or went over my syns. I'm hoping it's down to water retention!

Know how you feel, I put on half a pound, I am very unhappy about it, the consultant suggested I up my syns to 12, I'd had 44 this week and she thought it wasn't enough. I came home and ate a bar of chocolate and packet of hula hoops, hadn't had any for three weeks. I'll give the 12 syns a go but I don't understand why.

I tend to cut a block of tofu up into slices and bake it in the oven for about half an hour to get rid of some of the water, then use it to cook a stir-fry with stir-fry Fry light, some soy sauce and veg from the freezer e.g. green beans, mushrooms, and peppers. Obviously works just as well with fresh veg, I also add chilli flakes and sometimes tinned pineapple (HE B) or cashew nuts (HE B), If you serve it with noodles that's all free on a green day.

I find you just need to drain the liquid out of the tofu pack, then wrap it in teatowel and place a heavy pan ontop. leave for 10mins and most of water is squished out! So no need to oven cook.

I do the stir fry option too.

Or just marinade slices in soysauce and fry with fry light to go with sunday dinner.

Or mash up, add soy sauce and fry in fry light and have on toast

Or cut slightly thicker slices, fry lightly, cut a slit into piece, stuff with cheese of your choice. Place slices in oven proof dish and add topping of your choice. I prefer a tomato and herb sauce.

Or marinade in soy sauce, fry and make sauce with onions, peppers, cherry toms and low fat creme fraiche (do not let it boild or creme fraiche will separate). pour sauce over tofu and serve with pots and veg. Or over jacket spud.

Can you tell I was brought up on the stuff?! lol!

I think it's very versitile as can be added to anything eg curry, pasta sauce, or is great cooked then cold in salads.

How much have you got to lose (and lost already)? I heard someone say they prefer you to start on higher syns (ie 15 a day) so that you've got something to cut back on when you get closer to goal. 44 isn't a lot, I couldn't manage on just that so you've done really well! Try adding syns into your main meals if you don't want to be blasting them on choc and crisps.
