And with over a 5 stone loss  who am i to argue lol!!!!!!!! Seriously tho  , that is amazing! How tall are you............. You can be my role model - here is a quickie - have you reduced how much you eat since the first few months??? I am petrified i will start putting on weight soon as i seriously eat a LOT!

Heehee - no no, argue away! It's just my good old humble opinion. I don't know how to be a role model - can I just be a terrible warning? ;) I'm 5 foot 7 and I absolutely haven't reduced what I eat - I eat more, actually! Much more. And the more I eat, the more I lose. :o What I've seen happen (in my day job!) with people who diet by gradually eating less and less is that they snap at some point and yoyo right back up, or they get so worried about eating that the restrictions on eating take over their life and start to generalise into restricting other areas of life too(anorexia?). So I've been determined not to get into that ever increasing cycle of reducing my food intake. PLUS - I love to eat :D

Mincemeat (the fruit one not the meat one) cous cous cake

    4oz cous cous

    x3 eggs
    x4 tablespoons sweetener
    X2 teaspoons of mixed spice
    2 heaped tablespoons mincemeat
    juice from 1 lemon

Heat the oven to 180, soak the cous cous in boiling water (normally use double the height of cous cous) add the sweetener, mixed spice and lemon juice with the water, stir and wait for it to soak in.Add the mincemeat whisk the eggs then add them too and mix well.Pour into a greased loaf tin and bake for 40 mins

The whole cake is only 2 sins on a green day!!!

I found this on another site, is it allowed and did anyone try it? it sounds too good to be true lol :j

  • It is a bit too good to be true I am afraid.

Cous cous (used as a subsitute for flour) used to be free, but now is not (it is 5 syns per oz). Therefore, this cake is not 2 syns, but 22 syns...

That said, the general opinion at class, and on here, seems to be that you could have it *occasionally* (as a free food) but any more than that and it would affect your weight loss.

This is a classic 'misuse of free food' recipe.

    sorry :o

The couscous cake is a bit of a dodgy one as it can be classed as free food abuse............. I am too scared to try it at the moment.

See, i don't agree with that. As long as you pretty well know it is above the amount of a healthy extra and you subtract that 6 syns what is the problem. I know that in one of the slimming world books it actually tells you that if you have a shop bought sandwich which uses wholemeal bread, you can just deduct 6syns from it and that is official SW advice!

I certainly did this when i had pizza and lost 2.5 that week...... With pizza you can be sure that your slice has more than 28g or 42g of mozarella ;) - you get your healthy dairy/fibre so no losers :)

I will admit to knowing next to nothing about pizza - I can't bear the stuff, but 42gms of Mozarella seems like an awful lot on one slice of pizza. However, I will bow to your superior knowledge ;)

It's true that SW do often say you can deduct 6 syns for the bread if it's wholemeal, but they know that you're eating 2 slices from a regular loaf so you're definitely getting more than your HEBs worth.

Anyway, as I've said before, if you're still losing weight whilst tweaking, fine, when your weight loss stops, look at the tweaking first, before deciding it's stopped working for you.

Please don't think I try to preach on here - I honestly say what I think is right in order to help people. I tend to quote the rules as I was trained to do, but a little rule-breaking is good for the soul as long as it's only occasionally.

1/2lb is a measly lil gain lol. Just think it may show for you next week. Up the speed foods, stay focused and you never know. There is a poor woman in our class who followed it strictly. Lost 4.lb first wk, stayed same for 3 wks!!!!!!!!!!! Then this week.....................lost................4.5!!!!!!!! 5 week average 8.5! which is more than 1.5lb a week! Think averages :) Even with that gain you have lost 6lb?.... in 3 wks - which is 2lb a week!

Don't panic, it could be any number of things. Most likely it will be a little fluid retention.
Stick rigidly to the plan next week and you'll see it come straight back off with a couple more pounds as well I bet.
