    That's perfect!!!

I am back now, with a new bruise on last weeks bruise, but it is such good fun (we use weighted, adult sized hoops) and apparently it is the equivalent exercise to going for a run or doing a couple of hundred sit-ups - I know which I would rather do ....

  • Anyway, back to todays menu - I am being good :A as weigh in is tomorrow, I have had a bit of a naughty weekend, and I only have 1lb before I am at the top of my target range. A loss (however small) would be lovely, but I fear unlikely, so I am just doing damage limitation today and tomorrow by doing EE but with as many superfree foods as I can :D

B - 0% yog with blackberries and strawberries, tea (Milk HA)
L - Beans on toast (HB). Fruit (2 pieces), water.
D - Chicken marinated in yog and tandoori powder, baked, served with lots of veg (courgettes, breen beans and broc) and spiced spinach potatoes.

It's my weigh in tomorrow too Angie, getting far too excited about it.

I have 4lb until I get my 1 stone sticker, determined to reach it before 26th April, my birthday.

Hope you have a good week everybody.

    Finally a Homeowner 04.10.13 :j

I keep seeing "minus x syns if you count *** as a HE" and you know, I don't really think that's following the plan.

In order for something to be counted as a HE, Slimming World put a great deal of thought into how much of the product is necessary to perform the function it's intended for (eg: the amount of fibre necessary in a HEB...which is why there's often a Ryvita or something added to the basic item).

It's fine as long as you're still losing weight I suppose, but in order to maximise your weight loss and the health benefits, you shouldn't really be tweaking the plans.

If you "minus 6 syns and count the cheese as a HE" you don't know how much cheese is on top of the pizza, so how will you know if you're following the plan. Much better to syn it as it stands and have a proper amount of HE as well.

See, i don't agree with that. As long as you pretty well know it is above the amount of a healthy extra and you subtract that 6 syns what is the problem. I know that in one of the slimming world books it actually tells you that if you have a shop bought sandwich which uses wholemeal bread, you can just deduct 6syns from it and that is official SW advice!

I certainly did this when i had pizza and lost 2.5 that week...... With pizza you can be sure that your slice has more than 28g or 42g of mozarella ;) - you get your healthy dairy/fibre so no losers :)

Honestly, I see no issue with discounting syns when something is on the HE list and you know how much is on there. Now, with eating out knowing how much is on there is an issue - however with Pizza Express we've no idea what the syns would be anyway, so it's all guess-work in a sense whether you syn the cheese or not. I test myself quite frequently on quantities and am pretty much spot-on when it comes to knowing what a HE of cheese looks like, melted or not. Yes, I'm that sad. But honestly, once in a while, I think it's fine to do, and that it would be taking the diet to life-constricting proportions to not do it - which is a classic falling-off-the-wagon pitfall. SW is about empowerment to choose the right foods, not restrictions, and if you know what's in it then you know what's in it, regardless of whether you cooked it yourself or not.

    Just my 2-penneth.
