    Hi all!
Sorry to gatecrash but I volunteered to make a dessert to take to dinner at a friends who is at SW. I wanted to make something that she can eat without too much worry, does anyone have any good dessert suggestions/recipes for me (she will be on a green day).
    Thanks in advance.

Hi Fairyfish. The easiest option would be a nice fruit salad - always easy to make and if the weather's good - what's more perfect? I just had a quick look on the SW site for some ideas and saw this:
    http://www.slimmingworld.com/healthy_eating/recipe_jelly_loaf.asp

I've not made it myself, but it might be an option, it's only 1 syn on a green day. Always good when you see that many syns for something that tastes good :) Also I just found this. Have never made one myself but have tasted one. It was good :)

Make up a sugar free jelly, the ones that come in the sachets, but only to 3/4 of a pint.
Wait for the jelly to cool for about half an hour and then whisk in a pot of Muller light yogurt . Obviously choose flavours that will work together. Vanilla goes with most!!
WARNING don’t leave the jelly to set too long before whisking in the yogurt.
    Voila. A lovely light mousse.

And remember you can put some fresh fruit in there too if you wanted to :) Hope this helps

This is beautiful, quite high synned but a real dessert!

    200g ginger biscuits, crushed
    50g low fat spread, melted
    2 x 250g tubs quark
50g icing sugar or 5 tbsp Splenda
Finely grated zest and juice of 2 limes
    1. Mix crushed biscuits and melted spread and press into loose bottomed 18cm cake tin (line with cling film). Chill for 30 minutes.
    2. Mix quark, lime juice and zest and icing sugar or Splenda.
    3. Spoon cheese mixture over biscuit base.
    Serves 8.
7 syns per portion if using Splenda, 8 syns if using icing sugar.

brownjasperdog, that recipe sounds lovely. Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to stick to one portion @ 7syns I'd eat the lot!!!! :p

No wonder I had to join SW :rotfl:

    Hi everyone

Can someone post up which yoghurts are free please? I know mullers are, but when I get to the supermarket I'm not sure what else is or isn't so I end up buying more muller, or nothing if I don't think the deal is good enough!!!

    Thanx

I cant help with a full list but did buy this yogurt today which I intend to have with a meringue nest (2.5 sys) and fresh strawberries

Have you tried green tea? I have found I can drink it with no milk. we had a stand in consultant this week and he said that green tea was a good (hot drink) option as it helps aid digestion.

Well i made the first steps and went to the class. and im now getting to grips with the plans etc and the syns. First 2 days have been really good. Can i ask do you have to use your sins ohr are they seen as extra there if needed lol?? Can some one answer that??

Your consultant should have explained in your initial chat how many syns you should allow yourself.

I nearly always used my syn quota when I joined either because I would misjudge the syn value of something  or because I had my syns planned out - typically a glass of wine - 6 syns, pack of treat size buttons - 4 syns and 5 syns for sauces.

I guess everyone will have a different opinion re how many syns you should use. I feel it is important to use them because they help to make your meals more interesting and mean you can have treats :D

I really need some inspiration. Feeling flabby and am going on holiday in a few weeks and its all inclusive too!

I can diet and not eat rubbish all day long but its the evenings that get me. Its just too easy to sit with a glass of wine or malibu and relax and then one leads to another and then I start craving a packet of crisps or toast! If I can just get through the evening then Im fine! Easier said than done though - especially with OH having a can of beer and both him and daughters sitting eating crisps etc!

Never mind - got to give it a try. Any tips for keeping away from the rubbish in the evenings would be appreciated.

Malibu is my spirit of choice :D Try puttting the diet coke in first with the ice then adding 10ml malibu. I have even been know to dip my finger in the malibu and then rub the glass edge (spotted this trick on the bbc3 programme - the real hustle). Thus you are getting the taste of the malibu but are saving a tiny bit on the syns. If its a wine night then ensure you have somewhere to put the glass down rather than hold it in your hand (like I used to do) and thus drink it much quicker. Perhaps have a glass of sparkling or still water and alternate between drinks? I dont believe in watering down wine but you could do this if you wished which would again save on the syns.

You could have toast in the evening if you saved a HEB option and had some HEB friendly bread in the freezer? If on a green day, you could make the lasagne crisps although strictly this is a misuse of free food and thus are not really free but once in a whild probably be ok. Like you, I am pretty good during the day and then blow all my hard work in the evening  It is well reported that drinking (alcohol) makes us reach for the nibbles....

How about snack a jacks? I have tried to look them up on the SW website but know that they are relatively low in syns.

The Pom bear crisps are also relatively low in syns so thats another option.

On my danger nights, I cook a huge pile of jacket chips which I follow with a low syn/free desert or a low syn chocolate bar.

Enjoy your holiday and dont think, I must be 100% good. Bear SW in mind, make healthy choices and have fun.

EDIT - you could take up a hobby such as cross stitching or card making - something that occupies your hands and means you are pre-occupied with your crafting thus not drinking or eating nibbles!!

    Hi Flat Eric,
Could you explain what you meant by lasagne crisps? what are they and what did you mean about a misuse of free foods? Maybe I've been misusing fee foods and that's why I've not lost anything.
    Thanks

:hello: Hi to all who used to know me.....:o

Hiya Catt........lovely to see you again xx

I averted danger today by forcing myself to start preparing dinner as I was tired and tempted to call for a takeaway.......

Once i had bunged the food in the oven I wouldnt consider wasting it then:D
    ..........phew

And I have bought some (shhhhhhh WW) cheese nachos. there is only about 6 in the packet and they are 4 syns a pack, so not worth it.

    Giving them to the kids;)

I made the hummous out of this months magazine, not good, not good at all:mad:
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.
