Well thats it! After a particular low moment yesterday which involved me and half a box of cadbury's roses I marched myself off to join Slimming World last night.
I also paid £50 upfront for 12 weeks including joining fee and a free summer eating book which I didnt think was bad value.
No chance of me finishing off the rest of the roses now:oBut these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -
definately not, those tiny little sweets are 2.5 syns each, SW definately makes you think twice about making a choice (although I did succumb to a bar of galaxy this week after spending about 7 hours sorting out the pc after my daughter had clicked on a popup which put malicious spyware onto it.....grrr......kids.....) however, before SW if I had binged like that (and that was a minor blip in the history of my binges) I would have given up for the week, and then I would have thought "I can't be bothered with this anymore" and would have used it as an excuse to return to all of my bad habits, with each blip meaning I went back over my starting weight, slowly but surely getting bigger and bigger...........NOT THIS TIME.........YAY to SW for giving me the focus to be in control!!!I believe that I have the strength to make my dreams come true:T September Challenge £5 per day - £0/£150 :T0

Hi all
I was really looking forward to finding out how much I had lost in the first few days of SW (following the plan at home, as I have all the books from before). Went out yesterday & bought a new set of (shhhhh) WW scales from Mr Ts - the only ones they had, other than the cheapy ones. Well, the stupid things never give the same reading twice!!!! I'm sure they must be faulty, but it means i will have to go & take them back now & also don't know how much i weigh...the only good thing is, at least each weight they gave me (3 different ones:eek:) were all less than it was last week on the old scales......
Anyhow, a question for all you experienced SW-ers if you would be so kind? I'm planning on making HM fajitas sometime soon, I am OK on the filling but not sure how many syns or whatever I would count for each tortilla approx? The recipe I make is 6oz pl flour, salt, water & 1 tbsp oil - this makes 6 & I don't use any oil to cook them - they cook on my hotplate. TIA if you can help...:DNew start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . I have put the box away and plan to share them between my 2 teenage sons, I am sure they will make sharp work of them:rolleyes:
Good start for me today, have had fruit and low fat yogurt for brekkie and done an hour of ironing........
I find that once I feel that I have eaten too much I also adopt the might as well eat the whole lot attitude:oBut these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -

I am quite new too and the secret with digital ww scales is a firm suface i use mine in the tiled kitchen floor and they work fine
the tortillas work out 6oz flour @4.5 syn =27 plus 6 syns per tablespoon oil spo 33 in total or 5.5 syns each seems a lot but i dont eat much bread anyway i will check thebought ones to compare.
Edited :Discovery Foods Mexican Soft Flour Tortillas, 8 pack 40g each 6 syns on both days

^^^ How about Ham/Egg things lol
You get a muffin tin, spray it with fry light and put two slices of ham in the bottom of each one (I think they hold 12), crack and egg into it then put it in the oven for 3-4 mins (or till the egg is cooked)
Cut them in half and servethey are really nice

Sadly another week of no progress for me with a STS. Its like someone has turned off the weight loss switch. I'm following consultant's promise though and sticking with it, having not cheated this week. I hope it starts to move again soon though as this is the third week. I expected to STS when I finally shifted to EE for maintenance. At this rate I would gain on EE.
Doh!

 Do you keep a food diary? If not, it's a good idea to do so at such times as these. It may be that you have slipped into bad habits with your weighing and measuring (apologies if you know you haven't).
It's very easy when you've been following the plan for a while, to think you know what an ounce of cheese looks like without weighing, or where the cereal comes to up the side of the bowl without measuring.
For the next week, be absolutely sure that you check weights and measurements. Also double-check that the things you think are free foods or HEs, actually are (for instance, many members think, wrongly, that Special K is a HEB). As another 'for instance', even though Batchelor's Savoury Rice if free, not every other brand is, so it's a good idea to check if you're swapping brands
Try hard to up your water intake, especially since the weather is so warm.
Try to increase your activity level - it's not necessary to flog yourself to death, just walk more often and at a faster rate (breathing a little more heavily, not gasping please......I don't want to be responsible for you collapsing).
Are you eating enough? Daft as it sounds, you need to be eating plenty of free foods (and lots of variety)or your body will hang grimly onto every extra calorie in case you're going to starve!
Make an effort to have plenty of S or SS foods with each meal. This can be as simple as adding some berries to your morning cereal, or a side-salad to your lunch or dinner.
I do sympathise with your frustration at staying the same for several weeks, but it will pick up again if you're sure you're following the plan 100%.
Have you checked your measurements (waist size etc)? Often on weeks that you don't lose pounds you will lose inches, which is always nice
Hope some of these ideas help x
Way to go LouiseJ....that level of committment will carry you through, well doneI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Hi all just popping on to say thanks to shaz_mum_of_two for the helpful info & tips re the weighing scales. I put them on the floor of the shower & can report that I have lost 4 3/4 lbs in my first week!! :j I'm very pleased with this although I don't expect to lose as much each week. I have been on eBay & bought the EE book but I think I might still stick with green for a while longer....am I right in thinking that with EE you just get one HEA & one HEB?? Whereas you normally get more....I still haven't found my stash of books yet, to check.
I'm making a SW tiramisu to have tonight, old recipe from one of the magazines. Will LYK how it turns out, it was easy to make:DNew start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 .
