Hi all, managed to loose a pound in my first week last night which considering I was bad over the weekend with wine I'm really pleased with. I am starting to feel a bit stressed about my OH though. He wanted to do the diet with me, refused to come to the meetings so I said fine, just make sure u read everything thoroughly. However he is seemingly unwilling to actually sit down and read through it all. He seems to expect me to just tell him what he can and can't eat and is then surprised when I tell him he's had too many syns when he's eaten loads of crisps etc... So i come back from my first WI last night with the syn directory and tell him to look in there and stop asking me every 3 seconds!! I also bought the 100 green book and he briefly flicked through the pages and then said he didn't like anything in it. How encouraging!!

Right, rant over.... just wondering if anyone else has issues with partners doing the diet, and tricks or tips or anything to stop me getting so fed up I'll just stop the diet!

Well done to all loosing! xxx

I did SW a few years ago and lost 3 stones - then stopped going as everyone was telling me how good I looked so needless to say I put all the weight and more back on! My OH didn't go to classes then and followed the diet in his own way and just put weight on as he wouldn't listen to what he was supposed to have. This time round he suggested we go together. This is a major achievement as he has mental health problems and so doesn't do "group meetings" but he's managing so far. He's lost nearly a stone. He said he wanted to go as it had worked for me last time.

I think your OH will just do as he wants to. Maybe when he sees how well you're doing it will spur him into action. But if he's not willing to put the effort in himself then it won't work. I'd just worry about yourself and leave him to it! Sorry if that's not much help or bad advice but you can lead a horse to water...

Thanks room512, I think your right, he will just do what he wants really. He just seems to want me to do it all for him and I don't think it can work like that. I'm thinking so much about what he's eating and stuff that I'm forgetting about me. We had a bit of a fight last night so I'm hoping it will make him realise he has to either read it all and do it with me, or just enjoy the evening meals we have and forget the diet. He won't even let me sit down and try to explain it to him. The really annoying thing is that we've been doing extra-easy and I'm not 100% sure it's working for me (going to give it another week though) and I love my green days so would quite like to go back to that, but he just moaned when I told him that and said he liked how we're doing it now. I just feel like it's a constant battle and it means I'm not meal planning or anything and this being only my second week I was hoping to really shift a bit of weight to start with.....

I think I'm going to sit down with all my books and my laptop and just meal plan for 2 weeks and see how we go from there I guess.

    hello everyone!

It is our taster night next wednesday and I am after some ideas. I want to a variety of salads. I am going to one from the new magazine but need some more ideas. Would like to a cold pasta one. Any ideas welcome.

  • WI today and lost 3lb, a minor miracle as I was at my mum's over the bank holiday and she served some horrendously fatty food! It's been a bit of any eye-opener actually, she always says she eats very little and can't understand why she's big - and now I know why! Pate at 3% fat with white toast and loads of butter anyone? The healthy option was a french roule cheese at 2.7% fat.

My OH is also on the SW diet although he's not really aware of it (unless he spots this message) and is also losing which seems to be the easiest way to do it for us. The only problem is I haven't found a way to let him know he shouldn't stop for a fried egg roll on his way home from work yet . . . I need another salmonella scare!

Sadly another week of no progress for me with a STS. Its like someone has turned off the weight loss switch. I'm following consultant's promise though and sticking with it, having not cheated this week. I hope it starts to move again soon though as this is the third week. I expected to STS when I finally shifted to EE for maintenance. At this rate I would gain on EE.

    Doh!

My OH has tried every diet going and tells me when he loses a lb then says hes happy as he is when he puts 2 back on. this week after much suggesting he decided to try SW but like you I am watching and planning his meals more than my own as I prefer green and he likes red. Even after 4 days he now cant be bothered to keep a food diary.

Sooo after a few words he now knows that he's responsible for his own SW (though I will help him) and if he cant be bothered thats up to him. I put on 1/2 lb this week after losing 3 last week, the most Ive lost in any week so Im not going to jeopardize what I enjoy because he cant be bothered.

We cant make our OHs do things. Ultimately their weight is up to them same as ours is up to us.
